Redeads from Ocarina of Time. I see one, and "OH HOLY SHIT" *slash slash slash*. They scare the shit out of me. :p

I haven't played many games that had enemies that made me panic or scared/terrified me.

Well, in FF IV (at least in the DS version) there is a sandworm you may encounter early in the game that is way overpowered at that point.

Also, Iron Knuckles from Ocarina of Time was terrifying with Link as a child. It really creeps me out when an enemy just sit there and you know it is powerful and you have to wake it up if you want to advance in the game.

IBlackKiteI said:
Bloodsucker from the Stalker series.

You hear this weird panting and footsteps, you see a shimmer and start spraying the place with bullets. Thinking you've killed whatever was causing the noise a smug grin appears across your face as you reload, and then you get ripped apart by Zoidberg's evil, invisible, brother.

Sure the words 'You are dead' immediately appear across the screen and you just reload your quicksave, but thats not the point.
Unless of course you have a headset that allows you to pinpoint their exact location through sound. It makes the game easier, but also kind of ruins the effect they're supposed to have.

OT: I don't know why this popped into my head, but I HATED fighting super battle droids in Republic Commando. Those bastards were tough.

It has to be the sewer monster from the really old point and click adventrue game "Escape from Horrorland". Shees... can't remember how many times I jumped when I rounded a corner and looked into its eye.

Also, first time I played RE4... the chainsaw dude really... just would not .... die...

The Welder from Yahtzee's Chzo Mythos series. He is the scariest 16 bit character ever. http://lparchive.org/The-Chzo-Mythos/Update%2016/6-capture_23032010_010747_copy.png

Truely evil knights from Harry Potter 1&2 on the PS1. I've never since been as scared of an enemy.

They work by running up to you, clanking horribly, and won't stop chasing you untill they get close enough to swing their axe at you, and that's the only time they are vunerable.
So you are forced to have them almost kill you just to defeat them.

And I was seven.

There is only one enemy I consistently run away from in the Final Fantasy series. I'll bet most of you can guess which recurring enemy it is in two guesses. Here's a picture:

He may be so damn cute but depending on the game, a stab by its knife will deal 90% damage, 9999 damage, or automatically kill you. It also has some pretty decent HP and defense in most FF games, meaning it's difficult to kill.

Terrifying looking? Not in the least. But I do run almost every time rather than fight so that does say something about the fear this thing puts into me.

And I am not alone here. Here's a picture from DeviantArt that about sums it up:
