Though Resident Evil 4 isn't especially scary, it definitely had the scariest enemy I've ever seen.
The regenerators or whatever.

From games I have played lately, Deathclaw/Cazador from FONV (Before level 20 or something) and from Silent Hill: Homecoming, the monster which spews smog or something black stuff. Also, from Mount and Blade enemy kings with 350 man armies, and Creepers in Minecraft.

These are enemies I didn't want to encounter because I couldn't have handled them or they would have nearly killed me.

For all time it would probably be those crabs from HL2. They were so small that I couldn't hit them on Xbox.

Headcrabs are the enemies I would least like to meet in real life. It cracks your skull, and takes control of you while you go insane from the sheer pain of having your brain exposed to headcrab. It furthermore pokes and prods your brain, causing you to babble in pain, and your only reprieve is when some man in a suit comes by and kills you by throwing a saw blade through your midsection.

The Regenerators from RE4. Powerful attacks, nearly invincible and utterly terrifying to look at.

This
Or the regenerative Xenomorphs from Dead Space 1 & 2. They are completely unkillable and, thus, terrifying

The Hunter from Dead Space. It doesn't matter how many times I've played the game, or how unscary the rest of the game has become for me at this point; the Hunter utterly terrifies me. At least he doesn't show up in Dead Space 2, right
I have to agree with this. Most of the terror comes from the fact that you can't fucking kill him. So whenever he shows up, it's like 'Oh shit! Run away! Run awaaaay!'

In a game called "Ominous Horizons a Paladins Calling" there were these things looking like standing sarcofags, which came closer every time they weren't on your line of sight and did major damage after reaching hitting distance. Of course there was no to destroy them and there were always several of them coming from different directions.

Scissorman from the Clock Tower series. Maybe it was because I was a kid when it came out, but he haunts me even today.

The Deathclaws from Fallout. I was playing New Vegas when I was told by an NPC that they life north of where I was, so I went west. I ran into one of the frakers and I was woefully unprepared for the Satan-esque death machine. It did not end well.

Nothing comes close to resident evil 3's nemesis... maybe william birkin from RE2 or the hunter from dead space but nemmy still is the worst for me.

The Flood of Halo Combat Evolved. Back when they were actually scary, not like in Halo 2 and 3 where they were just annoying.

Iron maidens and Regenerators from Resident Evil 4. Fuck those things. I played the rest of that game with the lights on. Not to mention the first time I got to close to one...

Miniblins from the Wind Waker. Seriously. You can always hear them coming with that infernal 'dey-de-dey' chant. They're really easy to beat but they scare the crap out of me because they always appear at places you thought were safe. They make me freak the hell out and bash the chop button relentlessly.

Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.

Unless you had a rocket launcher, Nemesis would turn you into his ***** faster than you could say, "Jill-sandwich".

Doors couldn't stop him and he was way faster than you. As soon as you heard his ominous theme music you knew Nemesis was just seconds away from whooping your ass.

For me the scariest enemy is the on demon's souls. The prison guards on world 3, I have never been as terrified as I was against those guys.

Dead space-The hunter.

Yes, I know most people here think dead space and every game like it has enemies that aren't any trouble because you can just fill them with bullets, but what about enemies that keep coming, through hails of plasma, fire, saw blades, and cryogenic freezing processes? Thats the hunter. You ca dismember it all you like, but it will grow it's limbs back and continue it's pursuit just too fast for your liking. You'll try to escape it by getting out of the room it's currently in, but soon you'll find it has an all too remarkable knowledge of spaceship vent systems, as it crashes through the nearest vent, looking for blood. Your only choice is to keep running until you loose it, or you find a way to eventually get rid of it.
