Red Alert 3.

I'd like to see you give me three good reasons as to why not without mentioning the Japanese faction.
It had co-op single player (Original for a RTS)
Nope. Red Alert 2 also had co-op campaign, and the missions were more unique than the main ones. I believe a couple other games out there have it as well.

well i'd say that Killzone 2 is pretty damn unoriginal...
Agreed.

Gasp, as the scenery bores you to tears. Coo, as the voice-acting leaves you with a feeling of emptiness. Weep with despair at the sheer unoriginality.
Be prepared for a stroke as Rico opens his mouth to add a cunning and original insight, but fails yet again.

F.E.A.R The bullet-time mechanic, the story, the guns, the robots can all be traced back to something done before, although Super Smash Bros. (insert type of fight here) is pretty bad too.

"Um. I'd say every game ever made by EA, especially the sports games"
but most of their recent stuff actually has been original (Mirrors Edge?)(Dead Space?)

Even the first one, Pong, was an adaptation of ping pong. The entire industry is basically just thriving on how much better and further they can push the boundaries of remakes. Originality has never really been my problem, my problem with games lie in how well they can deliver their program from idea conception to playable game. In the end, for me its like comparing movies, every one a different movie. Some are well produced, some not so well.

Gears of War and Killzone both come to mind as games who took no chances and did nothing new.

Final Fantasy hasn't changed a thing except graphics since 1987ish.

Any game that has gone to four or more sequels, no exceptions.

Most anything cranked by Nintendo.

I think there are WWII games that do stand out, specifically Red Orchestra and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. If you're saying WWII as a topic, then I guess they aren't original, but they moved away from the war movie-like action of CoD and MoH.

Agreed, it looks like COD4 and it's sony's response to Halo (double unoriginal).

Dead Space, a game that couldn't decide whether to rip off more from Alien or from RE4. Having said that, I'm probably the only person on the planet who *didn't* like it, so I await the rebuttals.

I do not doubt Halo ONE was original. Halo 3 on the other hand, yeah pretty unoriginal.
halo wasnt original either, it just took WW2 games, put them in the future, and took vehicles from GTA and dropped em in there with a few guns attached
Yeah, because there was a Normandy on an area that wasn't from Earth, WW2 had super soldiers with regenerating shields, in Halo, everyone goes around having sex with "hoes" and "pimping out" their cars with purple and bling. If you are going to use a game which all games with vehicular combat ripped off, look at Terminator: Future Shock. And to the guy who said that Halo was all about aliens invading Earth, it may be surprising to you to find out that Earth is not even seen in the first game, and plays merely an inconsequential role in the other games. And when was the last time in a story where aliens attacked us because their leaders found out our existence invalidates their religion and portrayed us as deceivers in order to get the other aliens to attack them to cover up the fact that we were the descendants of the supposedly "divine and missing" race they worshiped?

In relation to the topic, however, every game is unoriginal in some way. Mirror's Edge ripped off parkour, Deus Ex ripped off every conspiracy theory about the government, etc.
apparently you do not understand. shields=body armor(regenerating was the only idea halo had, and it ended up fucking the entire FPS genre up), vehicles have been in older games, its honestly a shitty rip off of GTA games, with an even shittier story that was COMPLETELY wrapped up with the first game (discounting 343 guilty spark living) they had no questions unanswered to work off of

*sigh* Get ready for a bunch of Halo bashing, even though the original was unique for it's time.
I'd like to disagree with that, but that isn't the point of this topic. Anyways, I'd say any sports game such as Madden would be the most unoriginal. It's the same game every time.
"Unique" might be a strong term, but I think we can agree that games of that type (not FPSs, just FPSs of that type) were a bit less ubiquitous at the time.
True. However, I personally don't see the popularity of that kind of FPS a good thing, but that's all subjective.
