Basically the game that didn't get much credit or hype but you loved anyway. Mine would have to be Contact for the DS. Not the best game on the DS but truly underrated. It had a strange story, funny characters, and broke the fourth wall like you wouldn't believe.

So what is the most underrated game ever? Post what you think and why.

NBA 2k11 is never going to get the credit it deserved.
It was the best game made in 2010 by far, and I'm going to stand by that forever.

Armored Core: For Answer

Sure, the controls are downright INSANE at times (it is so far the only game I've played where I need to use my index and middle fingers along with my thumbs at the same time), but being able to charge into a fight with dual "machine guns" and back mounted grenade launchers (which, considering the size of these weapons, are closer to giant high speed bomb launchers) at 1500 KPH, against a 1000 meter tall walking fortress?

I like. Core on Core fights though can be, um... frustrating unless you have the "spreadzooka"

People all over are considering it to be the best basketball game of all time, maybe even the best sports game period. It received nothing but praise.

I'd hardly call it underrated. I love that game, but so does everyone else.

I'd say Rag Doll Kung Fu for PS3. It got shitty ratings by just about anyone with a computer. It's a really fun game. A quick, enjoyable party brawler, exactly what it should be. No online? Get a life reviewers.

The Timesplitters series. It's a cult classic, but never really did get the recognition that it deserved by the gaming community as a whole.

I would have to say Illbleed. It was weird and hilarious yet no I know has even heard of it. More people should give it a shot just to know what it's like.

The Suffering - first game I played that had a Moral Choice system
This too. Mostly because it was genuinely scary and located in Maryland. I don't know, it was nice to play a game that took place where I lived for once.

Sacrifice and the Divine Divinity series.

Both were great games. None actually got the aclaim they should have. Sacrifice was unique and innovative. Divine Divinity was a mix of Baldur and Oblivion.

In relation to any other game genre, it is far underrated.
Especially on this site.

These are my choices:

- Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. One of the best (if not the best) Wii games and I don't think it got any of the credit it deserved. The game was amazing but overlooked.

- Siren Blood Curse. It's easily one of the scariest games I've played but it's overshadowed and under appreciated.

- Obscure (series): It's one of my favorite PS2 game series, but no one seems to know about it. It's name is a good description I guess.

- Klonoa (remake) released on the Wii a few years ago. Terrific game on the Wii, but completely neglected.

To name a few others; Second Sight, Battalion Wars, Legend of Alon Dar, Primal, and Ghost Hunter

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem if you go by commercial success. Although pretty much everyone who knows about it thinks it's awesome.

As far as a game that sold poorly and didn't get much critical acclaim i'd go with Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

Way of the Samurai.

The story is classic corny samurai flick, but I loved the game for how it branched based on decisions, either reunite the warring clans, take sides, work with the government or be a lone sort of 'ronin' through the whole story (VERY short campaign, though) On top of that, a bevy of different swords, styles and moves to learn. I grew up watching old samurai movies like Lone Wolf and Cub or Seven Samurai- so I fucking loved that game.

I never played the sequel, though I heard there was some kind of added mechanic where police or militia would pursue you like cops in GTA- didn't sound as fun as basically kill warring samurai clans without much reprisal in the first one.

Banjo Kazooie- Nuts&Bolts springs to mind personally. The creative freedom and building ridiculously mad contraptions just never gets old for me. It's not the most underated but i'd say it's overlooked.
