Most unfortunate death in a video game

Was playing Project Reality recently and our squad had decided to cross a road to check some buildings for enemy weapon caches. Our (reasonably experienced) squad leader told us (the noobs) to make sure you keep your spacing and don't bunch up while crossing a road in case a bomb car comes along and blows up the whole squad. Sound advice despite the fact we already knew standing in the middle of the road would attract the attention of enemy vehicles.

The problem was he decided to give us road safety advice while standing in the middle of the road. Just as an enemy bomb car turned onto that street. Once the car had been spotted and its presence announced, we (the noobs) turned around and legged it through a gap in a wall into the safety of the compound we had just searched.

Once we got to cover, I spun round to check we were all safe and guess where our squad leader was standing.

Alright it didn't happen to me or an NPC but it still gave us a good laugh for a few minutes.

A friend of mine was playing a WW2 game -- I forget which -- and one thing NPCs will do about grenades being thrown at them is to kick them back at you. In one instance, he hucked a grenade at an NPC, NPC kicked the grenade, grenade bounces off the wall and lands right back at the NPC's feet.

For me: Off the top of my head, playing on Narrows in Halo 3, going off the man-cannon at the same time someone else goes off the one on the other end

This is one of the worst deaths I have experienced evar.

While playing No Mercy on L4D we were at the finale, the chopper shows up and me and my team are making are last ditch effort to make it(we were all limping in pain). A tank shows up and flings me through the small opening in the motherfucking chopper. no lie.

The server lags.
Now there is a Hunter on top of the last survivor.

As Infected, on No Mercy, having a beautiful jump lined up with a Hunter, only to overshoot and fly off the edge.

First time on avalanche in H3 I through a plasma grenade out the front entrance only for it to hit the man cannon out side, come hurling back at me, and stick myself in the face.

I was going post something else, but then I saw the comment about the magnum on HL2, and I remembered the combine guy on the tower by the train tracks, the one that I pulled out the crossbow and picked him off from about a mile away at the tunnel entrace with enough force to throw him off his tower and back into a billboard, which of course he hit, and because of the radioactive rod, was stuck to the bloody thing harder than the HIV on a prostitutes needle.

Only time I actually felt bad for the people I've killed in video games.

I was playing GTA4, i have very low health i exit the car outside a Cluckin bell walk across the street and a police chase runs me down (cue eastern european scream).

I was playing GTA 4 on the mission where you have to save Roman from the Russians and I had just completed it gunning through everyone which takes about 5-10 minutes. On the way out of the warehouse driving with a big smile on my face I drove straight into some explosive barrels.

H3 one shot left on rocket launcher randomly shoots it and the guy with camo 5 yards away blows up, but before i could pick up the free gravity hammer a hornet reenacts the bombing mission from COD4.

Me well I was playing a multiplayer game on halo 3 the Valhala map (I think) and I tryed to park a banshee up on top of the mountain side so I could snipe from up there, But I instantly slid down he mountain, walking away from the mountain the Banshee that I parked dropped right on top of me killing me instantly, I saved the clip and its funny to watch in different angles ever now and again.

I did get a good kill once on Cod:WAW I was playing multiplayer on the map were your in a like half demolished house, I picked a Bolt action rifle and Knocked the firing trigger trying to pick up my cupper, and I head shooted some one through a wall lol.

Not really tragic, but more hilarious;

Friend of mine was playing San Andreas. He had a four-star rating and took to the motorway on a motorcycle. He was doing absolutely ace at dodging the cars and the police for a very long time on a long stretch of motorways. However, he came off the path at a bad point, hit a tiny lump, flew about thirty-feet into the air, slammed his head on an overhanging edge of a cliff (killing his character instantly), fell to the base of a steep edge, had the motorcycle land on/near him and explode, then had a police-car run over the body, the officer stepped out of the car, pointed his gun at the character's head and shouted 'Freeze'.

It took a long time for us to stop laughing.

Here's a funny one: I was playing Super Smash Bros: Brawl (not the funny part) and I decided to try brutal melee. As soon as I spawned, an enemy dropeed down from above me and kicked me into a socond enemy who caught me in the air and threw me into a third who spiked me to my death. The whole thing lasted about 3 seconds.
