Sheva from Resi 5 pummeling you in the back with armfuls of precious ammo, rather than just moving along a bit and getting a clear shot, 'Snipers' in Battlefield 1943, sitting on a camping point where they'll get a shot once every 10 minutes rather than changing class and getting in to the action (and capturing flags!)and loot hunter classes on any 'free for all' MMORPG, rushing in to grab the best items while you're fighting the snarling beasts.

I'm sure we've all been utterly hindered either by a teammate locally or online, and I'm certain we've all been hindered by AI more than once!

What do you find is the worst thing a teammate can do? What gets your blood boiling, and wishing you could physically boot them away from their console/off the CPU?

Well frequently on Mass Effect 2 (which I'm trying to play on harcore as a Paragon Sentinel), I'm left alone, either because the other two die or because they're stuck 20m or so behind me. It's a pain in the arse, stupid AI!

Well the AI in L4D and L4D2 have some kind of aversion to shooting Special Infected sometimes.

I got hit by a Smoker and as opposed to shooting it, the AI decided to run all the way through obstacles and areas to melee me free, the insane amount of time this took meant I was downed despite having high health to start with.

This kind of thing is quite frequent.

The Halo 3 friendly AI was more dangerous to the than the Covenant when they got in a warthog. I can't count how many times those idiots blindsided me just before I reached a checkpoint.

How about when they actually are shooting at the enemy, but after the enemy is at 25% health they shoot blanks and never actually kill someone.

Flashbangs, no more needs to be said on that.

It's not the most unhelpful thing in TF2, but medics who only heal one person. They are glued to a heavy usually and you can be shouting medic at least 10 times before he even acknowledge you, then you can see them staring at you and deciding whether to let go of his precious heavy for the 2 seconds it would take now to heal you seeing as you've been out of battle for so long.

To Medics: Heal everyone, your uber goes up (much) faster and we get loads more people on the frontline instead of one heavy medic pair who isn't going to get far without backup.

To be honest though I'm usually just happy our team even has a medic.

The conversation was as follows:

-=has an enemy targeted and moving in, guns blazing=-
-=pops up in my shot, getting killed by me=- "Dude! WTF?! TKer!"
"Bull! You got in the way of my shot."
"No! You did that on purpose."
"Shut up and play the game. You got in his shot."

It's bad enough you got in my shot and nearly cost me a kill. Even the other teammates were saying you got in the way of my lead injector. I hate it when people do that. It just wasn't enough for you, though...

(2 minutes later)
-=shoots me in the back of the head=- "That's for TKing me, n00b."

...no, you have to go and TK me because you were stupid enough to get in my way. GAH!

In TF2 upgrading your stealth level 1 sentry to level 3 which can be sniped a mile away.

It is a small thing but a literal killer. Blockers. People that stand in doorways pressed against your back so when you need to reload, take cover from an MG or nade etc you realise you can't sidle back into cover and you get blown away.

If you're doing some sort of escort mission, but you have to go at their pace which is usually at a crawl. I'd rather be able to go fast with a teammate that shoots me, than wait around for an NPC to get somewhere. I just circle them, run back and forth, try to push them along in frustration.

Guild Wars comes to mind.

CoD2, yes I said 2.

So I'm cruising through the campaign on veteran (cause I'm awesome like that).

Not only do I have to take out ALL the tanks, but my teammates don't seem to carry any of the following to aid me:
- Smoke grenades
- Regular grenades
- Bullets
- Brain cells.

Honestly, I was in a firefight, I was in one building, shooting at the enemy across the street in another building.
I was wondering "Hmmm, why is it I get shot the millisecond I stand up?", it's because that the four a-holes on my team are just camping next to a window, NOT SHOOTING AT ALL.

Seriously, they were not shooting in the 10 minutes I was stuck at that damn building, I know that for a fact as you can tell on the radar when someone's shooting.
They weren't even LOOKING out the window, so they definetly weren't doing me any favours. RAAAAAAAAH

I feel better now.

Oh Resistance 2. Why dost thy maketh thy AI partners invincible to friendly fire? It's such a pity because the game is awesome. I just wish I had a dollar for every time I had to restart an area just because my partner either A) Got in the way of my rocket launcher blowing me up, or B) got glitched and couldn't walk through an invisible wall that popped up out of nowhere.

And in Online Multiplayer, I one of my teammates just wouldn't stop bitching! Every 2 seconds I heard him say something like, "Drop the fucking shield!" or "Fuck you! I fucking shot you!"

Don't you love when people vote to kick you for no reason? The game just started, but already someone is voting to kick you for no reason. And no one will admit it.

OT: I love the AI that decides that the best thing to do after a hard fought battle, which left the entire party at low health and/or mana, is to rush the enemies just in sight of you that have NOT engaged the party. I swear this happened a lot in Dragon Age: Origins.

The flip side to that is actually getting someone to tell you why you were vote-kicked. I will quote here (since I still have the message in my box):

"Well, we don't know who the f*** you are, so why the f*** should we play with your n00b ass?"

Nevermind the fact they refused to even let you show them how much you purportedly suck...

Actually, I can think of one time that I was literally having a vote to kick me initiated the entire game. Since I was playing Domination in MAG, that means a full 30 minutes. Eventually, I just started ignoring it as no one else was going to kick me (I was one of the top performers in the squad).

I've heard groups admitting to kicking someone so that they could play with a friend. At least, it's honest.
