Most Unlikable Anime Character?

For me it's Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist, I tried to like him as he was the main protagonist but he contradicts himself so many times and he seems to like someone one minute then turn into a completely different person and hate them the next. His irrational hatred and anger just doesn't make sense and sort of kills the immersion for me.

Well the guy seemed to have this "Im better than you" air about him, granted he kinda was. That and he kinda come off as whiny, especially when he brought up his family. That and he just seemed like a dick... but thats just me. Im sure you really like the guy, and thats fine, I just couldn't stand him.
Oh and Misa from Death Note, every time she opened her mouth... I just wanted to slap her!!

I agree with the OP. Edward Elric unlikeable as a protagonist. He was funny one minute and then deadly serious the next.

I'm only up to Episode 4 (started watching it a few nights ago. It's frikking AMAZING...) but Edward to me seems pretty genuine. He's cocky and contradictive, alright, but he's brave and loyal. If he rubs off a bit grouchy, just remember what he's been through........

Alphonse, on the other hand, is just a perfect character. No flaws.

I just felt like the guy complained to much... I mean I get it he had daddy issues, and he had a great burden on him, being one of the few kids who can pilot the mechs. Still, I just found the kid to be annoying.

He was basically a whiny stuck up annoying bastard for most of the show, if not all of it.
