Although not [i/]technically[/i] a weapon, Thanatos in Persona 3 (although badass) was shitty as far as actual combat. Which sucks because you wait 3/4 of the game just to use him.

the chainsaw is very satisfying..so i don't know why it would be otherwise.
for me, it would be the mini-uzi in cod4, i'm just not too good with it..

Assault Rifle in Unreal Tournament 2004
Weak bullets, weak grenades
dual wielding kinda saved it though

The Magnum from Half-Life 2. I'm super, super stingy with my bullets, especially with stronger-than-average weapons, so even though my aim was usually decent enough to score a headshot on my target, I almost never used it. The ammo for it was so scarce, I was convinced that I needed to conserve the ammo for later use.

So I guess the weapon itself wasn't all that unsatisfactory, but the fact that you couldn't use it much was.

I gotta say the Assault Rifle in Halo 3. Yeah yeah I know it's a fine weapon, but it sounds like a angry staple gun. I want a BANG when I fire
Reality is unrealistic?

I've got to say the pistol from Halo 2.

The Minigun, and at least 3/4ths of the melee weapons in Fallout 3.

Minigun
-too heavy/not enough ammo early
-too weak/ not accurate mid/late game

Melee weapons in general (not including sledge, shiskabab, auto axe)
-too weak
-too many different kinds
-Why not use the strongest one you find first (baseball bat> pool club, etc)

I'll have to say the shotguns from the newer Wolfenstein games and HL2. They just don't pack enough power for me to like them. If I have a shotgun, I, as a rational human being, expect a one-hit kill when I hit them directly in the face with a shell. While the HL2 shotgun has power, it shoots like it's a freaking sniper rifle with no scope and really, really short range. I'm saying that it's not wide enough. The barrel's not even that long, I mean come on. That's not a shotgun I would want. Oh, and the ordinary pistol sucked too.

Also from Wolfenstein games (I really do think most of their weapons suck)...The Sten heats up way too damn quickly. The pistols are freaking useless unless doubled up on, and the dagger...Oh God, the freaking pathetic dagger...WTF? You have to stab the guy like five times to kill him. In real life, you know how many times you have to stab someone to kill them outright? Once. To developers: Please stop making things harder in games than they are in real life. It's annoying as hell.

Other really unsatisfactory weapons include both of Halo 2's pistols (which were pathetically powered down from the original game).

EDIT: I think developers severely underestimate the power of handguns. Really...all it takes in real life is one well-placed shot. Unless your gun is badly taken care of and is piss-weak, you should never have to put more than one freaking round into the enemy's head to finish it.

The accuracy was so terrible it got to the point where skilled/pro players just switched to shield gun as soon as they spawned to try to not get killed as they get a better weapon.

On topic, Biorifle for 90% of my UT 'career'.

For me it was the machine gun from doom 3 which i found the sound from reloading was the best.
Or the machine gun from any other doom game. Same ammo as the pistol, SAME DAMAGE AS THE PISTOL.

I would say any melee weapon in fallout 3. Truly an underappreciated gem the melee combat of that game.

The Colt .45 from CoD:WaW.
I know it was meant to be crap but it just SUCKS!
I actually found all of the CoD: WaW pistols to be surprisingly reliable, especially compared to those in other games.

The Desert Eagle.

Sure, it looks intimidating and is more of a small rifle, but the recoil, cost, and bulk of the little bastid just makes it not worth it.

Oh wait, we're talking about games. >.>

The Daikatana.

The SMG and Helghast assault rifle from Kill Zone 2. I never see anyone use either of them.

Relilable, yes. Accurate, Yes. Satisfactory? NOOOOO WAY!
