The CoD4 shotgun jumps out at me. slow, extra short range... seriously, you give us fancy rifles and night vision goggles and air strikes at our whim, but you cant afford anything fancier than a pump action shotgun?

I agree with the Half-Life 2 pistol. The silenced 10mm from Fallout 3 is also laaaame. I really wanted to use a silenced weapon AND actually do damage.

Pistol from Halo 3.

I even liked the one in halo 2! Why do they get progressively worse and than do a 180 with ODST.
Pfft. You've obviously never ran around with an M6G in multiplayer shouting "Magnum!" every time you kill someone.

As for my "least satisfying weapon" I don't really know. Awesome weapons are satisfying to use and pathetic weapons are satisfying to kill with.

Your bare hands in Crysis.
I mean, you're a friggin GOD with them.
The game is far more difficult with firearms.

Melee Weapons in Fallout 3. I tried to level up as melee and the game just freakin' hated me for it, so I just dumped points into small guns and suddenly I was god with a hunting rifle again.

In general I dislike any gun in a game where ammo is so scarce for it that you seldom get to use it at all. No matter how cool a gun is supposed to be it doesn't do you any good when you don't have ammo to fire it.

The goo gun from Unreal Tournament. You could one-shot a guy when fully charged (sort of) but then again you killed him with green goo. It had no appeal to me at all.

Ironically enough, the Fatman. It just became so easy killing everything with it that I stopped using it so could actually get a challenge.

Fallout 3's Plasma Pistol; by the time you actually get one you'll have far superior weapons, I mean you'd be better off using a baseball bat..

Also, the machine guns from Prototype always felt laughable poor.

The pistols in Battlefield 1942. The clunky mouse controls didn't help, as I would always slide my crosshair across the screen while trying to aim.

The Lava/Meteor gun in Ratchet and Clank 2 - It starts off as a Lava Gun which lets you have lots of fun spraying hot sticky death over everything in sight, And then when it upgrades, it suddenly becomes a terrible, low range meteor gun that flings low-damage meteors. At least they got it right in RAC3 - It becomes better and better lava, then when it maxes out, it suddenly becomes the polar opposite of lava - Liquid Nitrogen. Still behaves in the same way, but does far more damage and freezes stuff. Nice.

Then if you fix it, Becomes the greatest weapon ever. I gave it the nick name of "boss killer". ;)

Not technically a weapon, but it needs to be mentioned:

The Power Armor from Fallout 3.

Anyone remember going through the library? Remember the Brotherhood of steel LOSING MEN to a bunch of pissants with cap guns? Power Armor in the first two games was something you respected and FEARED.

(and exploited to get as quickly as possible). =p

On topic:

Pretty much any minigun from any game ever. Though the Uncharted Minigun's immensely satisfying, I've gotta say. Carries tons of ammo, and kills people no matter how close or far they are, entirely because you're raining lead on them at rates that just shreds them.

Any other game, and miniguns tend to be mild nuisances that at best make you target the carriers first (if just to get rid of that rain-on-a-tin-roof noise).

Also: the Doom 3 shotgun. It had a shorter range than Unreal Tournament's IMPACT HAMMER.

And that's depressing.

The poison apples from oblivion. It takes people ages before they decide to eat them, and more often than not the wrong person picks them up...
