90% of the plasmids in bioshock.

also, another feature I hardly use these days are save points. I'm too used to auto-saves now, and it takes me ages to get used to games that don't auto-save. I get really miffed when I turn a game off an find it hasn't saved my progress, haha.

Oh, I have a good one. Emotions in Fable 1 or 2. Why did they bother with them? Sure farting in someones face is fun but did you use it all that often / at all? I used them all maybe once then never again.

The dominion rod in Twilight princess stands out as the least-useful-outside-of-really-specific-circumstances-where-you-need-to-advance weapon. It moved statues, which is all well and good, but outside of the few statues (which you could count on one hand) in the one dungeon you get it, it has no use at all. It sticks out like a sore thumb when nearly everything else has some sort of functionality in combat or traversing in different ways. The double clawshot felt like a gimmick too, they weren't really trying on those last few dungerons (for weapons at least). The last thing you get is something that makes your sword shiny, and do more damage. But only in that one specific part of the game again. Yay, I guess?

Did anyone really use the 10mm pistol in Fallout 3 at all after getting another weapon? Compared to most other guns, it's a pea shooter.
Spam the small guns skill. VATS headshot. 1 hit kill on almost everything every time. The ammo is super cheap, and that's when you aren't finding bucket loads of it everywhere. I highly disagree with your statement, if played right it's a game breaker.
How though? I don't understand. Even with 100 in Small Guns, and all the accompanying perks making it better, it still took me 3 to 4 shots to the head to kill even common enemies, compared to one shot with practically any other weapon. I could see if you were talking about the 10mm Submachine Gun, that would be different.

Were you playing on easy or something? Using mods? Please elaborate.
I guess maybe I was playing on easy. I used whatever the default difficulty setting was usually. Doesn't disregard the fact that the weapon itself has absurdly easy to obtain ammo, even on harder difficulties. I admit, I did generally use other weapons more often, except for the hunting rifle. That weapon sucked.

Final Fantasy XIII Summons - didn't use them at all because it seemed like bosses/monsters were never that dire to actually go for it.
I've heard some talk that your battle ratings are what determine how often you can use them - can you confirm or deny this?

Getting on topic, I was very stingy with my money in Oblivion.
Really. I completely abstained from horse travel.

I would forgo faster travel in exchange for walking to a new town, just because I disliked the idea of my horse being expendable.
[sub]And because it controlled like a fucking brick.[/sub]

Granted, this was a while ago, but looking back... Damn, I'm an idiot...

The star ranking helps increase your TP (Technique Point) rating which allows you to summon at the cost of 3 - Max of 5 TP in the game. If you get 4 to 5 stars it raises your TP. You can get items later in the game that help raise your TP off kills though later on.

The shield in Prototype.

Really, how many people actually used this thing? It blocks your vision, only works from the front, and doesn't take much damage before being destroyed. It's much easier to just jump over most attacks then to block them with the damn shield.
Actualy, i kind of liked that shield. When you have soldiers shooting at you with machine guns, some bullets actualy bounce back and kill them.
Also, running around top speed against the traffic makes the cars bounce around and couse chain explosions...
I'm not claiming its an effective combat strategy, but its fun to have when messing around, and fun is what it's all about, right?

Pretty much any healing item in any RPG ever, because I always horde them thinking I am going to run out, even when I have 99 of them.

How about those Chinese lugers or those revolvers? They do much less damage then your starting gun, the Luger uses the same ammo as the 10mm, the other one only has 6 shots. The only time I used either was to repair the unique fire luger.

Probably because A) You can easily fast travel just about anywhere and B) Even if you don't, it only takes about an hour to get from one side of the map to the other on foot (less if you have decent athletics skill.) Also, they have a tendency to run away/die when attacked, and you can't fight from their backs. In other words, they're a huge waste of money, though there's not much else to spend it on anyway.
That's pretty much it actually, yeah. it's such a hassle to keep a track of them and keep them alive and they cost so much that unless I just happened upon one i tended to avoid them altogether. even shadowmere, which I lost after and hour or two after it wandered off.

Basically just to kill Radroaches and the like so that I wouldn't waste the ammo of a more powerful weapon.
OT: Regular clothing in Oblivion. I mean, it doesn't really do much 'cept look nice (sometimes), and if you picked up enough stuff during the tutorial you can sell it and have enough for a cheap set of armor.

Summons in FFXIII are based on your Technique bar, right below everyone's health meters. Your technique bar has five slots, and summons use three of them. I'm only about half way through the game (?), so far as the six have finally come together as a team, so maybe you get more slots later? Couldn't tell ya.
The meter increases either through the item spray that pumps it back to full (can't think of its name), or through high battle ratings. The better you do in battle, the faster/more frequent you can use your techniques in subsequent encounters. Certain other abilities like Quake, Renew, and Libra use Technique slots too, so be aware of that...

OT: I hate the elaborate combos in fighting games, because there's no point in using them when you know someone will just beat you through the sheer luck of button-mashing. Infuriating!
