I'm honestly sick of people from other countries hating on America or Americans. I hardly see American's on this forum say stuff like this about other countries.

I have people from the US and other countries make fun of me for being from NZ, everyone makes fun of everyone. But the US has a become a target more and more lately because it is seen as (note: this is not my opinion) a country that likes to stick its nose in others business and call them on out on things. People feel like they have to get their own back, to maybe let them know how it feels perhaps? That said, a lot of crazy shit has been hitting the news from the US lately, so that makes it easier for people to target. You're from a big country that influences a lot of others, it may be something you have to get used to my friend, not saying it's right.

You may not see it, but I have seen members from the US make fun and be rude to people in other countries in my years of being on this forum. It comes with this freedom of speech territory that your country defends, that you will see this from time to time. Please forgive me if this comes across harsh, I did my best to illuminate this in the friendliest way.

EDIT: As Legion above me points out, the person who said what you quoted is American as well. That said, I do see quite a few more comments of this type popping up and I doubt most of them are from the USA.

People make fun of people for dumb things, for example we are known for a high sheep population, so the term sheep-shagger gets thrown around now and then. That's just one example, I've also been told my opinion is invalid because I live at the bottom of the world and my views on things should stay there, when someone hasn't agreed with me. well, it makes us get some perspective and realize that "This crazy guy i know" isnt really that crazy after all. i like reading though these threads personally. i dont go out to look for such news, but threads here make me interested.

On topic: brings the "i must have grandson/daughter to a whole new level. the girls reasoning also makes it look like she was quite sheltered, though assuming such mother behavior that could very well be.

Really this is all the adoptions centers fault none of this would have happened if they had just given her another child-but they didn't and then they have the audacity to complain about not having enough people adopting pssh.

And really the child agreed to it as shown-if she didn't want to she could have just said no or called the police-stupid nurses getting involved in other people business what' is the world coming too.

Well, technically under UK law it was neither of those since rape requires the use of a penis for penetration (which the mother presumably didn't possess), and more general sexual abuse would either involve sexual contact between the mother and teen or exposure by the mother, neither of which appeared to have occurred. According to the article she was jailed for "child cruelty", which sounds like a fair description of the crime committed.

Five years enough? Probably, she'll never be allowed to adopt any more kids after this and so I can't see her being much of a threat to the public once she's released, no point wasting our tax money locking her up forever.

So this is sort of the other way around from what we're used to (mother pissed with daughter for getting pregnant) o.o Prison is not the answer here in my opinion, her act was selfish and indeed wicked, but I hardly believe there was intent on hurting anyone, she was cruel to her daughter and used her, sure, but it was all focused on a deranged plan, by that I mean, she didn't MEAN to cause harm to her daughter, but she was INCAPABLE of realizing the obvious: there was harm being done as she was using her daughter in both physical and emotional levels. I'm NOT saying there's no crime here, because there IS a crime, only this crime was perpetrated by a clear deficiency to fully absorb the world around, thus causing harm to others. Prison doesn't fix that, I don't know how England's jail is like, but it might make it worse, the proverbial "loony bin" should've been the choice, being a place of treatment and rehabilitation for crazies...(in theory, cause here in Brazil, for instance, prison is awful but asylums are sooooo much worse, so much so that every lawyer will always try to keep their clients out of there, jail is better AND SAFER)

This woman is basically a rapist. Sticking sperm in someone against their consent, for the explicit purpose of impregnating them. I don't see how or why this shouldn't be considered rape.
