Hi everyone.

As we all know, both the newspaper, the TV and the internet are jam-packed with reviews for movies both good and bad. Movie reviews these days seem to have something of a trend to them. They are either loved by almost everyone or hated by everyone.

This got me thinking. There are films which now seem to have an almost official bade of "good" or "bad" to them, like Phantom menace, or the Godfather.

What about the other side of those opinions. Films that a very small number of people hate or love despite popular opinion to the contrary.

For my money, it's the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie - At Worlds End. Everyone else seems to hate it with a vengeance but I actually liked it. The jokes were funny, the plot was good enough for me and the performances easily topped the films before. And yet despite that almost every film critic under the sun hates the thing.

What about all of you? Are there any films you love or hate regardless of the opinion of everyone else? If so, please let me know what it is and why you like it.

All the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, although that Keira Knightley is pretty tasty, even if she looks skin and bone.

Instant response to hated film is, for me, Knowing with Nicholas Cage. Not entirely sure on how it was critically received though so I may, like those above, just be repeating an already widely held belief.

Pay It Forward

Hate it.

It's a surprisingly shallow movie despite how much emotion it seems to wrestle out of people. I've always maintained that most of the people that say they like it are only saying so because they feel guilted into it.

Everyone hated Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

I loved it.

I still don't know why people hated it...

Howard the Duck, Hudson Hawk and Last Action Hero.

I know they're stupid, but I can't help loving these movies.

Watchmen seems to get a fair bit of undue criticism. I thought it was a fantastic film, but according to some it stays too close to the original while simultaneously deviating too far.

I am similarly baffled. I enjoyed it more than Advent Children.

[small]I'm apparently weird for thinking FFIX was awesome too *shrug*.[/small]

Everyone (and I do mean everyone) hates Spiderman 3. They hate it with a vengeance, but it is in my Top 5 movies of that year. Heck, Top 10 of all my life. I really don't know why people hate it so much.

Worst of all, my two favorite scenes in the movie are the vortex of hate of most people:

I hated QoS. I just felt robbed. Bond is supposed to beat the big bad guy, or at least win the battle, only to have the villain get away.

Instead we got "He's the BBG! Get him, Bond".
"Oh, wait. He wasn't. Our bad."

Just completely took me out of the film. I don't expect much from a bond movie, but I expect the villain to actually BE the villain, for Bond to win the day, hot babes and nifty gadgets. It's really not a lot to ask.

For REALLY bad, I recommend "Congo" - bad animatronics, people in gorilla suits, bad acting, ridiculous plot and MONKEYS WITH LASER BEAMS! (Yes, really). Only movie I have ever been tempted to walk out of. Truly awful.

Yeah QoS wasn't that great, they had kind of made Bond film minus all the parts that made the other bond films watchable.

I hate the village with a passion, pointless film all based round the "twist" at the end, but then again i actually enjoyed the Postal film so maybe i don't really have a leg to stand on...

Really? People think you are weird for that? I think that FFIX is the greatest! (Therefore you are awesome :3!)

As far as movies go, I really didn't like Tropic Thunder. I don't know how it was received by critics, but I know a lot of people who thought it was hilarious; I thought it was pretty stupid, and not really that funny at all to be honest.
