From what I've seen is that 50% of people like a movie and 50% of people hate it, and 100 percent of the 50% think they are part of a 1% minority and that the 50% of people who like the movie are blind sheeple.

Final Fantasy movies

A friend of me dragged me to the Advent Children once. I hated the games. Yes, i dislike final fantasy, JRPG's suck. But this movie... Damn... I didn't know what was going on, who the characters where. I think i wasn't the audience that it was aimed for. But still, it sucked.
There was only really one movie that is actually related to get games and no you were certainly not the target audiecne the target audience was hardcore FFVII fans.

Everyone hated Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

I loved it.

I still don't know why people hated it...
I think it was because it was suppose to be a FF movie, and it pretty much had almost no ties to the series...at all. Which is weird because most FF games have barely any ties to each other at all as well (cept for recurring monsters, spells, and cid). Its one of those movies that if it didnt have the tag of being a FF movie, the expectations would be a bit lower, and therefor, people could enjoy it better. Same thing with the Doom movie, hell it barely had anything to do with the series, and if they just changed to title, it would have had better reception(except for the stupid stupid STUPID fps part of the movie -_-).

I really liked Hudson Hawk and Last Action Hero. Howard the Duck on the other hand.. Not so much.
Well, Howard the Duck is mainly nostalgia. Had I been exposed to it at my current age, I'd probably laugh it off the screen. But as a 9-year old, seeing a movie that had a talking duck rocketing through the cosmos and battling a gaint space scorpion with a laser bazooka was just fucking awesome!

Everyone (and I do mean everyone) hates Spiderman 3. They hate it with a vengeance, but it is in my Top 5 movies of that year. Heck, Top 10 of all my life. I really don't know why people hate it so much.

Worst of all, my two favorite scenes in the movie are the vortex of hate of most people:
Emo Parker and the dance scene were the least of the problems this movie had. I didn't even mind it that much.

The fact that they made Sandman uncle Ben's killer instead the guy in the first movie. This completely negates the whole guilt complex Peter had that always reminded him to take responsibility for his powers. Plus, it was just a really stupid twist that was only there to drive the plot.

That and too many villians and not having Danny Elfman and John Dykstra on the team.

I have a weird liking for stupid giant creature films. Even though if you look at them objectively they are all pretty much rubbish I still enjoyed things like Anaconda, Deep Blue Sea, Lake Placid, Ticks and Frankenfish (yeah I only watched it for the title, I won't lie). I know I'm not the only one, because of the obsession with megashark vs Giant Octopus, but a lot of people utterly hate those films which I think is odd because they never try to be anything clever so why expect anything more than harmless, over the top, poorly acted yet entertaining films?
You do realise that most of those films were made tongue firmly in cheek. They're taking the piss out of cheesy action/horror movies. Similar to Snakes on a Plane and the like.

It's okay to like them.

I didn't think that Terminator was very good. It's cheesy, fairly stupid, and the Terminator himself alternatingly looks like Chuck. E Cheese-level animatronics and stop-motion. Both of these are fine in the proper context, but not here.

Really? People think you are weird for that? I think that FFIX is the greatest! (Therefore you are awesome :3!)

I've met 3 hardcore FF fans, and they all have a hard on for FFVII. One of them thought that IX was boring for no specific reason, and the other 2 said it didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game. Bearing in mind I've only played 9 and 10, I thought it was awesome.

28 days later

I know, the ending is shit. But i like the beginning, untill the militairy part i find it a good movie. Ofcourse the third act is awfull but the first two acts are what a zombie movie should be in my mind.
I thought that 28 Days was well recieved? I actually enjoyed the third act (yay Christopher Eccleston), and I liked the fairly upbeat ending. I probably would have felt cheated if the alternate ending (Cillian Murphy dying in hospital) was used instead.

I really didnt like "No Country For All Men". I don't understand how it won so much critical acclaim. I felt no attachment to the characters and it was so depressingly dull.

On the flip side, I really like the Mortal Kombat film. Its cheesy as hell, but has some cool special effects, action and an awesome soundtrack with Stabbing Westwood and Juno Reactor.

I hated Avatar. The Navi, Pocahontas copy, one. I mean the Last Airbender was shit as well, but most people think that's shit. Whereas Avatar was considered the movie experience of the century! Yeah, whatever.

EDIT: OH, and I also liked Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and the third act of the Phantom Menace.
And I really enjoyed 28 Days/Weeks later, I heard that a lot of people don't like them.

You've found one. Loved 'em. ;)

I have little love for the Harry Potter films - haven't seen the recent one, but the books were just much more gripping.

A lot of people apparently hate the latest Star Trek film, and for someone who is not and never will be a trekkie I really enjoyed the bugger.

Could it be that you're just Comic-Book-Guy-ing the movie instead?
