Movies. No, good movies. That are also unknown

One of my favorite movies that I watched that I haven't seen anyone talking about is K-PAX. Its about this man in a ward who says hes from the planet K-PAX, I wont spoil anything for anyone who hasn't watched but I will say it is a really interesting story.

K-PAX? My friend told me it was a terrible movie so I didn't watch it =/. On a scale of 0 to The Shawshank Redemption, how good is it?

It's OK. I wouldn't rave about it, personally. As far as I'm aware (I've no experience personally, though), it cuts out large swathes of the book upon which it's based.

=O There's a book too? No offense, but since there's a book, there a high chance it sucks if the book was good. Should I watch the movie, or should I just read the book in hopes that my memory of K-PAX isn't just "Crappy movie"?

Good day peoples of the Escapist. So today, I just finished re-watching, for the 4th time, Requiem For a Dream. After I finished it, I went to talk to a few friends about it. Turns out none of them have heard of it =/. I didn't just ask 1 or 2 people either, I asked 53 people. This disappointed me very much because this film is pretty amazing.

So Escapee's, my question for you is why haven't people watched movies that are as good as Requiem for a Dream?
For bonus points put in your favourite "unknown" movie, or "unknown" movie you want to watch.
For me, it's Black Swan xD same director as RFOD.

I'm actually DVR'ing Requiem to watch it again. I had never felt so depressed in my life quite after watching it (It was part of the Aronofsky Collection, so it had Pi as well. That one was also good).

As for Good unknown movies, I can't say I have seen many, but I would recommend Suzan Pitt's Asparagus if you want a 20 minute animated short that about as much a mindf*ck as anything David Lynch has done (P.S. if you watch Asparagus and Eraserhead as a double feature, like they did in the 70s, Eraserhead will make more sense. You can find Asparagus through veoh or youtube)

8mm [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134273/] is a good one. It's Nicolas Cage in a movie that really didn't get public view because it's about snuff films. I don't know about it being "unknown", but it wasn't popular from what I've read.
After Hours [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088680/] A Martin Scorcese film I was actually really impressed with. Martin directing funny, I approve.
Lars Von Trier's Antichrist [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0870984/]
Black Snake Moan [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462200/] I don't remember anybody talking about it.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099763/] I cannot recommend this movie enough. It's actually scary.
Wes Craven's New Nightmare [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111686/], in my personal opinion, until I see Scream, this is his best work
Synecdoche, New York [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383028/]. I've been plugging this one for awhile, but it's worth watching once.
Visiting Uwe. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1288407/] It's about Uwe Boll. As a video gamer, it's truly interesting to see who this guy is. Also available online.

Those are a few, but I haven't a clue how popular they are, but as for good... I think they're good.

Like I said, I can't say if it was unknown or not, just not that popular. It came out when I was 8, so needless to say, I didn't see it until a year ago, the same goes for Requiem for a Dream.

Coincidentally, I saw it when I was 9...... with my mom. Very strange experience.
