So the fact that Presidents are traditionally sworn in with their hand on the Bible and that the Supreme court of the US has the Ten Commandments displayed outside of it (along with a fairly large number of Americans being Christian and every President claiming to be Christian) wouldn't lead one to a fair conclusion that the US is (for all intents and purposes) a Christian nation? ('God bless America' and what not)EternalFacepalm said:You know the US was never actually pro-Christian in its constitution, right?
There has been a lot of presidents claiming it was a Christian nation, yeah, but simply put, they were retarded.
Anyhow, I don't doubt an interesting concept could be made from atheism, I just don't know how. Atheism isn't in any way a collection of beliefs, so I guess there isn't as much to say when it comes to that.
And just because there isn't a standardised belief or deity behind Athiesm and Agnosticism doesn't mean that it'd be ridiculously hard to write a narrative for it, there are plenty of subjects you could write about and make a narrative to in relation to them (the rising acceptance of Athiesm and secularisation over our society's history and the stigmatisation that Athiests still face in certain areas are a couple that come to mind immediately).
I will admit I have a bit of a cynical view when it comes to how Athiesm is represented in mainstream media because of the somewhat strawman representation of it being a shorthand for ' bitter, spiteful arsehole' (kinda like claiming you have Asperger's on the internet).
