I haven't, but I plan to show my children the Star Wars movies in the machete-order. That is:

1. Episode IV: A new hope
2. Episode V: The Empire strikes back
3. Episode II: Attack of the Clones
4. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
5. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Yup, episode I completely cut out, like the miserable POS it is. In depth reasons here:

dude thats my viewing order as well I call it my first view order I am really tempted to make a edit with only the cool stuff from episode 1
That's a good idea, but check these out before you spend too much time on editing EP1. Chances are someone already made your perfect edit already.

I saw Mad Max 2 before 1 which gave me certain expectations that weren't hit.
Also I am probably among the 99% who haven't seen the James Bond films in the correct order.

I saw Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi years before I saw A New Hope. I remember watching those two movies when I was four (because I drew a picture the next day in class) and loving them. They always came on TV once a year and my parents let me watch them and tape them. Not sure why I always missed the first one, but I did not see A New Hope until I was I think seven, and the thing I remember most about seeing it the first time: the charred skeletons and people getting shot. I was so excited to see humans getting shot with blasters--in my mind, Stormtroopers weren't human yet, just...I don't even know what I thought they were--and seeing the damage they did. That scene where Luke, Han, and Chewie raid the detention center? I literally remember thinking, "So that's what it looks like. Cool!"

I also thought the second Resident Evil movie (Apocalypse, I believe) was the first in the series when I first saw it. Kept thinking that four about a year until someone told me there was actually a movie before it.

Star Wars... watched it in this order: 1; 4; 5; 6; 2; 3. Kinda ruined my viewing experience for all of it except 3... *shrug*

Terminator... watched 2 first... then was rather disappointed by 1.

Alien... again watched 2 first... but it didn't matter that much, both 1 & 2 were freakin' awesome. Still prefer 2, though...

I've seen End of Evangelion before I saw the actual series. If only I'd done it the "right" way, I'd have been more prepared for the mind screws...

I watched the Ocean movies backwards as in I watched 13, then 12 and finally 11. I really enjoy the third movie because of that weird viewing order, it made 12 really confusing but the movie was badly written either way.

Let's see...

I watched the second season of (2005-) Doctor Who first, as everybody I knew who watched the show kept on saying that David Tennant was the best Doctor. Then moved on to watch the rest of the series, caught up to present-day. Then watched all the Ninth Doctor stuff, then watched some of the older stuff. Especially enjoyed Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy. Then watched the Day of the Doctor. And now, I'm pretty much up to speed.

I watched the Dark Knight, then Batman Begins, then Dark Knight Rises.

I watched reruns of Batman: the Animated Series as a kid, and those were pretty much completely out of order.

I played Bioshock 2 after Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.

The first Uncharted game I played was Uncharted 3.

The first Mario game I played was SMB3, then Donkey Kong, then 64, then Galaxy 2, then Galaxy 1 and then Super Paper Mario... so those were completely out of order.

The first episode of Breaking Bad I watched was Ozymandias, after which I watched the rest of the series. I think the whole thing works actually works a lot better when you know what it's leading up to.

In terms of Mad Max, I'm in the same boat... Did NOT know Road Warrior was AFTER the first Mad Max movie back then... And, in terms of James Bond, I'm part of the 1% that have seen the James Bond films in order of their release... (yet, I have not seen any of the Daniel Craig Bond movies...) I blame my grandma and her early James Bond marathons...

Yeah, it was Apocalypse... Saw it in theaters in celebration of one of my friend's 10th birthday at the time... And even when I did find out about the first movie, it didn't really make me wish I needed to see that movie first unlike with the Blade Trilogy...

1. I kinda did the same thing, in terms of Doctor Who... only I originally watched the older Doctor Who episodes just to avoid watching the Smith Doctor, back then... Finally caught up in time for last year's Christmas special and have been caught up since...
2. I ended up watching the Dark Knight 4 times in a row before I even saw Batman Begins... and two of those times were during my high school drama class...
3. I still do not know the original order of Batman: The Animated Series and I refuse to look it up... (Though I know I watched Batman: Beyond in the correct order, for sure...)
4. At least with Mario, he does even need a "correct" playing order... unlike (maybe) Metroid and (maybe) Zelda, if you want to get technical...
5. Wow! That far into Breaking Bad?? (Eh... I guess it lessens the pending blows, I guess...)

I watched Spaceballs first, then finally saw the original Star Wars Trilogy. I don't think I was supposed to laugh that hard.

Well I watched the last harry potter movie before the second to last one. I only went to go see it because a friend wanted to and then later watched the previous one on DVD.

The Resident Evil moves since I watched them when they were on the movie channel.

I watched Serenity before I had seen most of Firefly.

I guess I watch stuff out of order all the time since I don't have consistent times for watching TV or have any shows I actually follow properly but those don't really count since I'm not planning on watching the whole thing.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Mostly because it has multiple ways you can watch it chronological or Broadcast. I watched the first season chronological and then found the second season episodes were supposed to be interwoven through out first season episodes.

I saw LOTR: Return of the Kings out of sequence.

I arrived late to the movie theatre about 30 minutes into the movie.

So after the movie, I snuck into another theatre room and watched the first 30 minute. Then I left.

Happens all the fucking time. Most obvious example is Dragon Ball Z, which eclipsed the more nuanced, but less popular Dragon Ball, following Son Gokuu's childhood and a time when the Earthlings weren't so fucking useless.

I watched Boogie-Pop Phantom in order but it really, REALLY didn't feel like it. Anyway, back on topic:

Exactly that...It kind of blew my mind when it was revealed that Oolong used to be an important character. Then I watched the fights Goku had with Tien and, Piccolo at the tail-end of Dragon Ball and those were pretty awesome!

---

The first Dr. Who I ever watched was a Matt Smith episode...then I watched all of Eccleston...then I watched a bit of Baker and Tennent etc...

---

I watched T2 before I watched the original Terminator.

A lot of 80s horror franchises, but the continuity between them is so lax that it didn't effect it much.

The only thing I saw out of order that f**ked with my head was an anime (horror?) series called Serial Experiments Lain, which Jessie had ordered funsubs to back in the VHS days & they arrived separately 1 day at a time in reverse order.

I jumped into Game of Thrones by watching the first five episodes of season 3 and then began from the start. Surprised to see how slowly stuff progresses in that series. (with 10-ep seasons who can blame it?)

Reminds me when I first saw a scene from the anime series Basilisk... only it had more blood... and I was basically Shinji while watching it... ("Delighful", indeed...)

Well, when one of my high school friends (with the same name as me) told me to check out the series (before season 2 was dubbed, I think), he gave me his own personal viewing list for watching all of season 1, which was vastly different that both the chronological and broadcast order...

Also, both the manga version and the light novel version go in their own separated order that's different than the other orders of watching the anime as well as their own... (The only thing that can watched kinda on its own is "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" or the parody series "Haruhi-chan", granted if you at least know what you're getting yourself into beforehand...)

Same for me... I didn't even know about Dragon Ball until around the time Cartoon Network was showcasing Dragon Ball Z episodes "uncut"... (It was also around the same time I found out that there was an arc before Frieza's in DBZ...)

I had the same reaction... I even re-watched it just to see if I did miss anything, only this time not watching the first episode off a DVD that came with this Manga/Anime-related magazine... (At the time, it was the second anime series where I thought I was watching it out of order, even though I technically wasn't... The first one goes to Paranoia Agent...)
