I'm just wondering what movies you guys think have big twists, the kind of movies where you can say 'I guarantee you will never guess where this is going'

I guess 'Cabin in the woods' is a big example, but I just saw 'The deaths of Ian Stone'
and you will never guess where that is going.

Can I get some more examples, I really like movies like that.

Cabin in the Woods revealed its twist at the very start though. The poster for the movie even tells you this is not going to be your normal shasher flick.

OT: L.A. Confidential had a pretty hefty twist. The people who've seen it will know what part I'm talking about.

The J-Horror film Tales of Two Sister had a good and unexpected twist. Seriously you will never see it coming!

Its not a film, but the twist I loved was the monologue at the end of Red vs Blue Reconstruction (I think) in which it turns out that AI Church is based on the Director. That and the music right afterwards still gives me chills.

The Usual Suspects - "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

Just watch the movie.

Uh...The Sixth Sense, anyone? Granted, there are some plotholes with that particular twist (I mean, Brucie would've had to have eventually realise no-one had talked to him or even acknowledged his existence in however long it was since he got shot).

Well pretty much everything Shyamalan made from Sixth Sense to Lady in the Water.
Chinatown has that famous slap-around twist.
Citizen Kane is more of a surprise reveal, since nothing's really getting twisted, but I count it up there.
If you've seen To Live and Die in LA, there's an incredibly out of the blue twist during the third act.
Psycho comes to mind too, forty minutes into the film or so (shower scene, duh).

Soylent Green, is an amazing classic film, with a twist you don't see coming... It's been pretty well hidden as a twist too, unlike star wars and harry potter and the like!

Also... a film in which NO ONE could guess where it goes; From Dusk Till Dawn! Seriously... could anyone guess from the 1st half of the movie, what the second half was going to be?

I thought Identity had a pretty interesting plot twist. You have ten individuals that slowly get killed off at a rural hotel location. Then you get this random plot with a psychiatrist treating a patient in a murder case that seems to have no relevance. Only to find out that...

The ten individuals are different, unique identities in the mental patient's mind.

I also thought the twist at the end (beginning?) of Memento was a great climax to the film. I know many people that didn't particularly enjoy the film, but I found the approach of working backwards to be very intriguing.

Inception had a decent twist. Memento had a huge one (before it was overdone). Same with Fightclub (before it was overdone).
The original Planet of the Apes had a huge one, you know, back before everyone knew it.

..And even though it is not a movie, I absolutely loved the Twilight Zone episode 'Five Characters in search of an Exit'. Now THERE is a nice twist.

I'll say The Village. There are multiple, each one makes you say 'wow that's a pretty big twist!' and then the next one is even better. It's not even like a film where the twists are just random and absurdly far-flung, they're very clever. I loved that film.

I'm not sure if it really counts as a plot twist but someone mentioned From Dusk till Dawn above and in the same manner, Life is Beautiful has one of the most jarring and yet fantastic genre shifts of all time halfway through.

Also, I personally happen to think that the reveal of the real villain in Watchmen is pretty good and, although I haven't seen it, Audition manages to combine a plot twist with a genre shift very well from what I've heard.

Can I just take this moment to give the original Planet of the Apes a shout out. People have treated that film so poorly with daft sequels, and that god awful Tim Burton film, that I saw ages before the original, and thus, dismissed the series as a bit naff. Then, one boring day, I saw the original was on and, with nothing better to do, watched it. My God, it's absolutely amazing. The twist is amazing, and beautifully done (even if I'd seen it parodied and the like many a time before, so knew exactly how the film would end), and everything else about the film is just as awesome. I implore anyone reading this, who may have ignored it, to give it a chance. Classic sci fi at its finest. . .

Now I've got that gushing gibberish out of the way, I'll go on to my pick of film with an awesome twist. Lucky Number Slevin. The first half of the film is a light hearted romp of mistaken identity, and then the twist drops, and damn, it completely changes the film, and blows my mind. Absolutely awesome. Seriously, you need to see this film.

(also, someone already said Memento, but it's one of my favourite films ever, so yeah, Memento).

Big Man Japan.
There is no way you will guess how it ends. It's so out of left field, changing the whole tone and casting doubt on the reality of everything up to it. Destroying any possible closure.

It's as if the whole movie just put on sunglasses and said "Deal with it".
