Too many people said Sucker Punch for everyone to hate it, but I really liked it.

The Spirit was way too much fun in its outrageousness. It's one of the few times I've paid $10+ for a movie and I didn't regret it at all.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull goes up here as well -- you know, I get the feeling that there are just far too many really vocal people who hate certain movies.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. When they say it sucks, I tell them "Cease that talk or I'll put the fucking leeches on you!"
... who has ever said that movie sucks? The movie and the book are great.

Yeah, I'm a Paul Blart: Mall Cop fan. I've also seen every Resident Evil movie and love them all, even if the first one was better than the rest.

I loved The American, and I seem to be one of the only ones. I get how someone who walked in expecting a Jason Bourne movie would be disappointed, but it's really not supposed to be. It's a rather subdued (and beautifully shot) character study that happens to be framed by spies and assassins. Still, people like what they like *shrugs*
Oh god. I remember the American. I hated it. Second worst movie of 2010 after Splice (which I say is the worst movie ever made (Super 8 is in between the American and Splice)), if you ask me. See, I'm a huge fan of George Clooney and I can appreciate "subdued" artsy type films. But no matter how hard I tried, I could not enjoy the American. Not at all. Personally, I felt that it was extremely pretentious in the sense that one could claim that if someone else didn't like it they just didn't "get" it and only want movies to feature explosions, which seems to me like they're cheating. Every single shot, though completely gorgeous (I will admit that the way certain shots were set up were fantastic), went on far too long and the characters weren't particularly interesting enough for me to care about for that long.

But that's just me.

I also liked Super Mario Bros. It's stupid mid 90s fun. Dennis Hopper is in it. John Leguizamo is in it. Yes, these are selling points to me. I even had the audiobook cassette version as a little kid and I listened to it a lot.

Another one people seem to hate is Death Proof (Quentin Tarantino's half of Grindhouse). The complaints all seem to be "It's just people talking. It's trashy trailer park talk. He's just wanking on film." Considering every other Tarantino movie before and after consisted primarily of people talking in a Tarantino style, I don't know why this one gets singled out as "bad." I suspect misogyny seeing some comments online. However, I love chicks, especially the chicks in this movie. They're sexy, funny, don't take crap, smart, and have well defined, independent personalities. Then at the end, it has an insane terrifying car chase with the actual actress doing the stunts.

Have to be the third Riddick Movie. I thought it was awesome but no one else did that I know in real life lol.
I usually find myself alone among my friends when I say I want to watch it. Totally unfair, it's a cool movie IMO.

The Matrix Sequels.

I really can't explain myself. I just really like the whole series.
Yea, my friends where expecting the same sort of reveal as that experienced in the first movie and where subsequently unimpressed. I on the other hand, had learned the black pit of disappointment very well with 'the Phantom Menace' and knew the sequels would never be able to live up to the original. Not my favorite movies, but thoroughly entertaining sci fi action in my mind.

x-men 3. It has problems, but it wasn't as terrible as most people seem to think, in my opinion.
Agreed, its not as bad as people say, but I would have made a few changes.

There are people alive who don't like that film? It's obviously brilliant and not misogynist in the least unlike most other Hollywood stuff. Most people who throw around the "m" word these days on the Internet seem to have very little idea of what it really means in practice.

I never saw an Uwe Boll film I didn't like.

Also Cloverfield was great, don't understand why people would hate on that. Much better and more subtle than all the other recent "epic disaster" movies that don't try anything new at all.

The Star Wars prequels, for some odd reason. Probably because I'm a Darth Maul fan, and I feel like I need to take the whole package if I'm going to take a piece of it.

The D&D movie with Jeremy Irons, though that may just be nostalgia and the fact that Jeremy Irons is awesome.

The first National Treasure. It's dumb, to be sure, and loaded with pointless trivia of questionable veracity, but it's still fun.

I was suggesting the detractors had some misogyny in their complaints (calling the girls trashy and slutty). When Grindhouse first came out, Death Proof got ragged on pretty vigorously.

Hey, I see where you're coming from, and you have some good points. Still, if someone pulls the "you just don't get it" card (which is totally ridiculous), that's the person's pretense, not the movie's. I don't think the movie itself is pretentious because it achieves more or less what it set out to achieve, without claiming to be anything more. Just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply if someone doesn't like it, it's because they have bad taste. It's not a perfect film: there's a reason why it's in the "movies you love but everyone hates" thread. Just like some things are popular for a reason, some things are unpopular for a reason too. And I stand by liking it.

(Super 8 was 2011, btw)

Black Sheep. Not the Chris Farley one, the one with the genetically modified sheep that thirst for blood. Nobody I know likes that movie. I would not say that i adore it, i just like it. It's funny to me.
It does have a kind of Starship Troopers black humour to it. I've seen Black sheep (not all the way through, I was channel surfing and I came to it about 30-40 minutes in) and I thought it was just horrendously corny in a way that my spazzy family has taught me to love.

OMG, that movie is great! The mix of early Peter Jacksonish over-the-top gore mixed with Simon Peggish humor, I don't see how anyone who is into either comedy or campy horror could not like it.

The Mall Cop part. I enjoyed that movie. A lot.

I also enjoy Wolverine Origins. It's the 2nd best X-Men movie behind First Class, subjectively of course... >>

I enjoyed Watchmen quite a bit, it has its limitations like some terrible casting and sloppy pacing but its still enjoyable. Of course the comic is in a different league altogether.
I thought everyone loved that, (figuratively)

From Paris With Love

It should be titled: John Travolta says "fuck" and blows shit up

It's a terrible movie, but so much fun.

EDIT: Also Observe and Report. It surprised me so much and had me laughing like crazy.
