This is the internet, so I'm not going to be so egotistical as to say these are movies that nobody has probably ever heard of, but I'm gonna name movies I like that most people I know had never heard of and I've made them watch.

Defendor, Franklyn, Happythankyoumoreplease, How to be a Serial Killer, Leaves of Grass, Mystery Team and Suck.

If anyone has seen and/or liked any of those films, you're cool with me.

Mine is a famous movie but non of my friends seem to have seen it. Donnie Darko. Takes a while to understand but it's awesome!
The philosophy of the movie is that if you say you get it, then you don't get it.
Do you get it?
I thought it was, time-travel is awesome, watch out for rabbits?

I Saw the Devil

I only know one person who has seen it, and he was the one who recommended it to me.

The Phantom Tollbooth
Never realized there was a film but I discovered the book a few years back and it instantly became my favorite. Truly mind-blowing; the wordplay is surreal!

As far as the topic is concerned: Scooter Kids

Low budget, horrid acting, and unforgettable inconsistencies. It's one of those "so bad it's good" gems best viewed with a group of MST~esque chums. Best five dollars ever spent on an unknown mystery DVD

Buckaroo Bonzai Across The Eighth Dimension.
Buckaroo is a brain surgeon, samurai, fighter pilot, rock-star, theoretical physicist, race car driver, and personal friend of the president. With a mansion, a tour bus, and for no reason at all, enough gear to army the Navy Seals.
The movie involves aliens, rastafarians, and Jeff Goldblum in a cowboy costume.

Battle Royal.
it got a sequel but it felt a bit to army-i for me.
I didn't like the sequel either but I loved the first movie! If you get a chance to look at the graphic novel give that a chance too, it's just as violent but the animation style looks very Disney. It made the thing seem a lot funnier to me...

I love the Yokai movie series but to name one, the 2005 Great Yokai War by Takashi Miike. It's a family movie about a little boy who finds a magic sword just in time to help save the ancient Yokai from new Yokai who were genetically engineered or...something...I haven't seen that movie in a while. It's a fun movie and proof that Miike can direct movies that aren't sadistic.

What about Fritz Lang's Metropolis? It's THE most influential sci-fi film. Look at pretty much any big space-opera design since and you'll see how its design pretty much defined sci-fi. Star Wars, Mass Effect, Logan's Run etc etc etc.

Also, what about its anime semi-adaptation?

Not many people I know have heard of Where Eagles Dare. I would have nominated It's a Wonderful Life, again going by who I know and what they've seen, but I think if I came across too many people that hadn't heard of that then my faith in humanity would take a nice dive.

They're certainly not unheard of, but I haven't seen too many obscure films and out of those that I have seen I've enjoyed less than half.
Where Eagles Dare is one of my all time favourite movies! No one I know has heard of it either, but it's brilliant.

I'll go with The Big Lebowski. Sure, it's a cult film, but no one but me ever seems to have heard of it in these parts. Damned shame too.

You know what, this too. I saw it last December at a dinky little theatre, and it was fantastic. Butt-numbingly fantastic mind you, but I'd seek it out again. But like you, no one else I know has seen it.

The mouse that roared.

A 1959 film with Peter Sellers in 3 roles. It's a satire on the cold war and the politics at the time. It may be quite dated as a satire, but Sellers makes it quite enjoyable even today. For some odd reason I like it.
