Moving the New 360 Can Damage Disks

Sorry all the back and forward got me mixed up on which edit/post was which.In regards about why I said Wii users are at fault, I'm in agreement it's the users fault but not all 360 users are at fault disc scratches.

I'm still not quite sure if your in agreement with me or not but i generally agree with you. I'm not saying that Xbox's are impervious to faults, we all know that's not the case. I'm simply saying this particular problem is not really something that people should rage against.

I disagree. I feel that it is always the user's fault, or at least, close enough to always the users fault that I feel no compulsion to qualify that statement.

I think this is to blame the costumer only. Since the days of the Playstation 1 era, it always have been a bad idea to move the console while the disk is spinning, but it was never harmful, it was simply annoying, but not harmful for both the console or the disk. If the disk scratched, it was my fault and only mine.

Today, with the new desing of the Xbox having 250gb by default, there's simply no excuse at all for not to install a game into the hdd. While playing a game directly from the hdd, you only need the disk for the game to start, and when the game starts, the disk has already completely stopped spinning, then you can move the console as much as you want, you can even jump or run with it and it won't harm your disk at all (not that you should do that of course).

Seriously?! People have to be told not to move their console while the damn thing is on? Are people really that stupid these days? I would never even think of moving my PC while I had a disc spinning in the drive, or moving my DVD player while I had a movie playing. This isn't Microsoft's fault for making a crappy console, this is just stupid people who should know better whining because they ruined one of their games through their own stupidity.

But it isn't an issue. If you leave a toaster oven on for too long, it's going to start a fire. It would say in the manual the consumer is responsible for reading to not leave it on for too long. It is in no way an issue, it is the way the console is designed that makes it wreck discs if you don't follow the instructions. They are at zero fault or liability.

If MS had the foresight to put a notice on the front of the machine they should have plumbed for an insertable spindle that grips the disk like the PS2's.

I've known this since I owned a PS1, I never moved the console when a disk was inside, I mean a disk gets scratched when you leave it on a pillow, so of course moving it whilst it's spinning in a console will damage it, the way I see it, a broken game is ample punishment for morons who can't handle a console.

Just, be more careful with your consoles. If a broken disc is what teaches you that lesson then, so be it I guess. I never move any of mine while they're on anyway, so this doesn't really apply to me.

This is the same with the regular 360. I can't count how many times people would come into Game Crazy when I worked there, trying to blame us for their discs with a huge circle groove cut around the disc, because they picked up their 360 and moved it sideways, or moved it for some other reason, while it was reading the disc. Luckily for some of them, we had a buffing machine, and I was able to fix maybe about 40% of them. Funny, how the majority of the games I did this for were Madden games.....

ya well jocks are dumbasses hence moving the 360 while its on.my friends 360 was KICKED over when gears of war 2 was in it and it actually burned a hole through the disc. thank god game crazy has gameguard cuz this was still a $50 game at the time. also a friend of mine was moving his 360 from one room to another UNPLUGGED with a disc in it and it wrecked the the game. the 360s only drawback is the fact that it can chew up a disc like spongecake.

Never move ANY device that has a spinning disc in it while it is on. Unless your intent on ruining the disc. This has been common fucking sense since the laser disc was fucking invented you retards...(not calling everyone retards just the ones that deserve it)

and this wouldnt even be a problem if it werent for the way the 360 is advertised.
whenever you see a pic of the 360 its always standing up so everybody wants to have their 360 like that "cuz it looks cooler".well it can fall down like that.if you have it on its side its totally safe. the ps2 slim was advertised on its side for a reason tho.if you put that thing on its side it will lightly scartch discs,nothin major tho
