Disclaimer: My first post ever on escapist. So sorry if I broke any rules.
You broke ALL The rules.

You are a terrible person. I drew you a picture to commemorate your terriblenessniness!

I know it's hard to see, but strain your eyes, and you'll see he put Judas down so he could gnaw on YOU! You're awful! You're everything McCarthy fought against in the 50's!!

OT: I know he meant to say, "Xbox 360 game," but he left out game, so here I am thinking, "Damn, they've gotten so much more portable."

Plus, the whole, if you allow your now adult child to own or watch this, you're a terrible parent. God forbid if parents were actually judged for what people did after they were out of their sphere of control. There'd be no such thing as a good parent.
Holy fuck! I'm going to hell! Spare me god and mods of escapists! Don't take me Grim reaper spider!
YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE YOU MADE THIS POST!

Also,

I've sold violent to parents who are buying said crap games for children as young as three years of age. I've even called some of these flesh-stains horrible parents and even told a few to never come back.

OT: This guy may be a jackass, but I do not disagree with him. However, violent video games do not make people violent. Violence in the news does.

Well I didn't want to call him names and stoop to his level lol.
Oh, you wouldn't be. Unlike him, you wouldn't be full of shit.

I don't disagree with him that kids shouldn't be playing games like GTA, but is damning is that he went further and said even people 18 years old and over are apart of the problem. Last I check being 18 means you're a legal adult, and can vote and drive. Had he went for a rationale argument like "kid shouldn't be sold games like GTA" and not insulted young adults, there parent, and didn't advocate censorship, this wouldn't be much of a big deal, and I wouldn't have made this topic to hold him accountable.

While Schultz is full of himself, his goal to look out for the little guy is commendable. How he does it on the radio and TV is a different story.

Not gonna lie I think a parent can give a child what ever the hell they want if they think they are ready. Hell one of my first games was Doom when I was 4. Guess what my parents did when they gave it to me, they told me this is a fantasy and not real. And honestly outside of a few fist fights when I was a kid cause I got bullied (You know oh kids will be kids and all that non sense when no one wanted to step in before it got worse). I had no urge the do anything extreme, I'm also not CRAZY. I mean what is the mental state of these guys that go on mass shootings, because I would case sub-par.

While I do agree every kid is not mentally ready for such extreme things, a parent should make the ultimate call.

Parent's that expect the industry to monitor what their children are playing more than they are are lousy. I'm with Ed on this one. GTA is about as meant for children as alcohol and pornography, and any parent that let's their child drink booze and view porn is a bad parent.

He has a point on that, despise how shitty MSNBC is he still has a point. There is a reason as to why there is a rating.

GTA V only came out on the 17th if I remember correctly, and it's already being blamed for massacres?

Keep on riding the hate train news groups, keep on riding.

If you buy a game for a kid, especially a small one, yes you are an awful parent. There is literally no censorship in GTA V, even the strippers don't have any censorship anymore. Its full nudity.

Who the hell buys their 10 year old a nudie mag? A 60$ nudie mag at that?
Wait a second... I heard in a review or spoiler that
There is an anal sex scene one of your characters films for blackmail or something
is THAT uncensored too?

I mean, I don't have any issue with the act itself but for it to be depicted in a video game is turning the dial up to 11 for a AAA game. More surprised they would allow that to pass than anything.

Yes, and Gamestop and other retailers have to tell parents what kind of content is in the game, and they will demand an ID to anyone who is buying an M rated game. The system, even with it's flaws which isn't perfect all the time, works. The game cases has a rating to warn parent of what's in a game basically, so it's there call to see if they should buy them for there kids. It's right there, we don't need any kind of government being the nanny to it's citizens.

Ed Schultz has a reasonable point in the beginning of his rant, that kids shouldn't be playing games like GTA V, but he took the low road ironically and with no surprise insulted parents and younger people who make up most of Obama's core voting block, and then calling for some form of censorship, that's where I took issue with.

He has a right to speak his mind on his show, that's his right guaranteed by the first amendment by the U.S. constitution, but so does Rockstar with there games.

But just because he can speak, doesn't mean we can't respond to his scape goating rant.

And every news network is shitty to me, all sensationalist BS with a bias towards there own ideology, and ignore the proper facts.

They aren't completely nekkid, but that does happen and there's no bars or anything covering it. Basically,
it might as well be dry humping for all you see. The commentary, on the other hand, is a bit rougher. It's up to you whether this is offensive or not, but I've seen more hardcore sex scenes on basica cable at night

Spoilered for consideration. I'm assuming you want to read it to know the details, but others might not.

In other words it's implied in action and exposition but not explicitly shown.

I wonder what the outcry would have been if it WAS explicitly shown?

GTA is dropping censorship, for good or bad. Frankly, they need to, to elevate AAA from "the things kids play" to something more. If we can do away the image of little timmy playing every game because games are for kids, I think console gaming (and in turn, mainstream gaming) can finally diversify into much more. The industry needs to make it abundantly clear that its not for kids anymore, and isn't a babysitter to everyone, regardless of age or generation. Hell, I see still see grandmothers and older parents still think games are interactive movies all made by disney for kids. As long as the cultural disconnect still exists, gaming is still held back.
Be thankful that this state of affairs does not have long to live, one way or the other. The PnP generation is in the midst of replacing the old fogies, and those that grew up with the first generation of mainstream video games are mostly middle aged parents themselves. Already, somewhere around 70% of gamers are adults.

Well, if it was explicitly shown, the game would have received an NC-17 rating, and one would be extremely hard pressed to find a store willing to sell it. The public outrage would probably actually be lower in that case, simply because of its sudden lack of relevance.

Really happy that the mainstream media are finally yelling at the parents and not the developers. Also, really surprised.

Considering they're already acting like it was....Probably the same.

Both hypothesis have the same merit.

It's a shame we live in a world where sex is still considered to be worse than violence.

You can animate a man's head exploding but damned if you could show a woman coming to orgasm.

Not much of an improvement in this case. He is still blaming the gaming industry for the things that go wrong with kids. (Even kids who are no longer legal minors apparently) The only responsibility for matters he seems to actually blame the parents for is allowing this corrupting influence to be around.

It is a bit like someone momentarily pausing his rant about how someone he hates is literally Satan incarnate in order to berate his neighbors for not stocking up on crucifixes.
