I stopped playing video games shortly after the berth of the N64 era and didn't pick them back up until a friend of mine showed me how much fun the random violence on the streets of Liberty City could be in GTA III and Vice City on his new PS2 years ago; how far games had come since the Mortal Kombat contraversy... I was prepared to buy my own PS2 shortly after only to discover the omninous black box called an Xbox from Microsoft AND the system had a GTA double pack, so I opted for the newer system for that reason alone and was an exclusive Xbox and 360 gamer until February of last year when I picked up a PS3 for the sole purpose of owning Heavy Rain.

So, as the PS3 nears it's second year in my ownership, I'm sad to say, I've only bought three other games for it, all PS Exclusives. I like the PS3 system and am not an Xbox fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, it's just that so few of the PS exclusive really speak to me and I can never find a solid reason to buy mutli-platform titles for the PS3 when I've spent that past 5 years buildling a collection for the 360. I'm not big into multiplayer (except my Halos,) so I can't even claim "all the friends I play with are on 360." I feel like a single person spending to furnish two houses for no more reason than I own two houses.

I'm curious how do other mutli-platform owners decided which console to nurture or do you even bother considering the issue? I ask because The El Shaddai demo really intrigued me, but platformers and hack'n'slash gameplay have never really been my "bag," but I want this one for some reason and my gut is telling me to get it for the PS3, something my gut has never done... I think my PS3 is to serve as an "Exclusives and Uncharacteristic Purchases" platform. Anyone of THAT school of thought?

I'm the other way around.
I just recently bought an xbox 360.

I'll just keep buying multiplatform games for the Ps3 cause that one has the largest library, that's basically it.
That way I won't have to spread it around too much!

I use the Xbox for exclusives and movie rental etc.

Ps3 for the bluray and most multiplatform games!

I buy all multi-platform games on the Xbox 360 and use my PS3 for exclusives and Blu-Ray. I prefer the Xbox overall but the PS3 has some damn good exclusives. Most of my friends are on Xbox as well so that's another reason I buy multi-platform games on the 360.

I have simple rules to follow in regards to which console I'll multiplatform games for.

Is it an FPS. i.e., COD, Battlefield etc? Xbox 360 (I prefer that controller for FPS games).

Is it a Bethesda title? Xbox again, mostly because they tend to be buggier on the PS3 and Microsoft tends to get the DLC earlier.

Is it a fighting game? Again, Xbox because of the controller.

If a game doesn't fit into any of those areas, I'll get it for PS3.

I have access to a 360 and own a PS3 and a Wii. Admittedly I use my PS3 and my best mate's 360 the most. And usually I buy games for the PS3 and if I like em enough I will rent/buy them for the 360 and get my achievements(achievement/trophy whore). Though I don't do a whole lot of multiplayer either. Most of my games are single player. And my games get bought on PS3 because I like the controller better.

Easy. I already have a PC, therefore a PS3 is the logical choice for my second console. Anything that isn't on either of those platforms (which isn't much) is irrelevant.

I tend to lean towards Single Player Games to the PS3, and more multiplayer focused games on my 360, but if I know a lot of my friends are playing a game on the PS3 it'll go there. Only exception is Mass Effect where it was 360 only then went to PS3 so when ME3 it's going on the 360 to finish my Soldier Shepard's story.

I get every multi-plat on my PC. If I can't buy the game on my PC, then I get it for my PS3. If its not avaliable for PC and PS3, then it probably isn't worth playing.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
if its an fps game or rts or top down then I tend to buy them on the pc, if its 3rd person then I used to buy them on the 360 but since I had to fix mine I dont trust it not to break again so Ill probably only buy cheap used games on it from now on

I have a PC, PS3 and Wii. Pretty much constantly use PC, unless something cool comes out for the PS3 or Wii. If it's multiplatform, I always get it for PC unless I hear the port is bad, then PS3.

My brother plays the PS3 all the time though.

I pretty much buy everything for my PS3, or PC if its significantly cheaper. My 360 hasn't been unpacked since I moves 6 months ago. I basically use that for exclusive. The last game I got on Xbox was Fable 3. Boy was THAT a disappointment.

The achievements are another reason I tend to lean towards my 360. My 56k Gamerscore isn't breaking any records, but it's mine and I like adding to it. I'm not a "whore" in the sense that I'll grind out for every point in a mediocre game or play Easy games for easy points (my profile is still "Avatar" free,) but when I enjoy a game, I like posting a decent point total out of it, ALL of 'em if the cheevos are reasonable.

However, I've never felt the same draw towards PS3 Trophies. I mean, I like getting 'em and I like when the pop, but I never really consider them.

Depends on two things; 1: How many people I know will be getting it for a specific platform, and 2: The genre. Not buying another RTS game for the Xbox... EVER!

personally i like the sound of the trophies better than the achievements but that's just me. And it bothers me when I can't get every trophy/achievement for a game(not including DLC)

This, word for word, exactly the same. I love PS3 exclusives like Uncharted and God Of War and I love having a blu-ray player but my 360 library is much bigger because I prefer the online community, the XBLA and the fact that most of my mates have 360s.

Normally, I go with whichever version plays best(basically whichever version is the least glitchy or has the smoothest gameplay). Otherwise, I usually go with the Xbox 360 because I prefer the controller and I have had better experiences with the online service.

Really? I thought the General consensus was that the Xbox D-pad was terrible for fighting games.

Believe it or not, I feel really comfortable using the stick.
