I will absolutely do this if I'm in a game with a small amount of players (1-4 or so). However if, for example, I'm in a hectic shooter with a lot of players then the most i find i can really do is not kill them & go for some of the more skilled players.

No. but if i notice that the enemy i sobviuosly crippled i get cocky and overagressive, do stupid mistakes, they won. So in a sense, Yes. Wait, how did that turn out.

Oh and yeah those "omg your a hacker" comments are really funny. This only proves that im way better than the next guy.
When someone accused of me of using an aimbot in TF1 I was speechless. It was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me in a game.

Yes, although in the games I play, it's more based on my own team than the opposition. The games I play are all teamwork-for-the-win, so someone who gets out of the teamwork zone either dies, causes the team to lose, or both. I think it's valuable training to be able to mesh my abilities with the team I've got, rather than going all out and basically blowing any chance of teamwork.

That's one reason I enjoy finding a team that's better than me, I can go all out and push my limits, confident that I'm not exceeding their capabilities.

In FPS games I never hold back. I want my team to win and I'll play to make sure they do.

One game where I do hold back however is WoW. If the skill level of the player I'm against is much lower than mine I tend to ban myself from certain abilities. If this is in arena however I toy with them instead. Made easier by the fact I'm a frost mage.

Depends on the game and how good i consider my knowlege/skill compared to the other players in that specific round.

But i tend to have a little switch in my head that changes my motivation for playing. I either play to win or i play for fun. Most of the time i play for fun because "playing to win" means applying tactics that many people consider "lame" or "unfair" it usually gets people angry at you when you do it very well and they can't understand how you do it.

So i settle with "play for fun" and handicap myself by doing stupid shit that i feel like doing but isn't the best way of doing things. Yes even playing with prey, but i'm always trying to make it an learning experience for both parties.

Depends. If I'm for example playing CoD4 vanilla. Then I'll play as normal and generally destroy people. If I'm playing Promod where the standard of skill is much higher then I'll generally be more tense when playing

Depends. If it's 1v1, then yeah, probably. In team games it's a lot harder to do so.

Unreal Tournament is full of negative feedback loops and it's really easy for someone less skilled (and probably new to the game) to just quit and never play it again because of the disparity between new players, veterans and dare I say it, pros.

If kiLLzA was your typical FPS player chances are he would have left the game at about 19:20 game time.
That's how I am, too. In arena shooters like that, if I happen to be far and away better than everyone else on the server, and it's a free for all or a one on one match, I'll hold back. If the skill levels are close to equal, or if I'm one of the weaker players, I go full tilt. In team based games, I always try my hardest, unless the server is almost empty and we're trying to keep the current players from leaving while waiting for some more randoms. In that case, I'm just as likely as not to suggest we go melee only and ignore objectives aside from what is needed to keep the clock going.

Online? Nah, I'm merciless. Locally, with friends? Sometimes, though oft-times I'm not exactly top gamer of the group.

No. I generally suck so much a at multiplayer that I assume (usually rightly) that the person is better and if I let up for a second I'm going to be murdered. If the person isn't playing as well as me then I assume its a trick because nobody plays worse then me, unless there totally drunk or stoned.

Do I hold back, no. Do I try to teach the newer players what I know (with out use of a microphone), yes.

This is not something I have been doing for a while subconsciously, I actually decided to do this a while back. The first time I remember doing this to a great degree was while playing online in Red Faction Guerrilla. If I was playing with a new player and believed that I could easily handle the other team, I would show them just how the dynamics of that map worked. Then I began taking that mentoring practice into other games that I was playing, just going around helping those that I felt needed it. However they also must prove that they deserve my help . To this day I still continue to help those that could use, even if they don't recognize it.

I choose all or nothing when I play with/against people that I do not know, but most times I just try to do well overall (even If I would fail most the time).

With friends is where I find the most fun is to be had.
