Shadowrun, which is unfortunate, because I thought it was a really fun game. Also Turok on the 360, but that game wasn't fun to begin with, so it's understandable.

I know I really enjoyed Far Cry 2's multiplayer, I haven't checked up on the community, but can't imagine it's doing too well, probably just people playing through for the multiplayer achievements (on the 360 anyway).

Well, Co-op vs. AI is a good way to learn a new character. I learned the jist of my characters doing that, and when I did a normal match, I never get complaints even though we normally lose then.

OT: Castle Crashers, I can rarely find anybody ever playing that game anymore(Still play on occasion though)

I remember a game on early 360 called The Outfit made by relic. I rememeber even at its peak it never had more than about 100 people and towards the end it was me and the same 15 or so people fighting over the top ten in the leaderboard.

Kept meeting the same people over and over

In my opinion, Alien Swarm... It was great when it first came out everyone got it (cuz it's free) but then it got... obscenely repetitive.

Is it really? Like, custom match wise or ladder? I'd be surprised if ladder was dying, but I can see custom's dying off since there probably aren't that many more DotA players sticking around with HoN and LoL out and DotA 2 to be coming out.

Custom games exist for a reason, but I guess you might perceive this as mean, even though it's just informing you. Also, co-op.

Red Alert 2. I went on the other day just to see, after re-installing it. Red Alert 2 was my entire 7th grade experience.

I don't think Ladder is, but yeah, the multiplayer scene in WC3 has been dying as of WoW, its expansions and now SC2 taking a bite out of it. SC2 especially. Customs are hosted by bots, bot rooms are empty.

This somehow reminds me of a game I heard a fair amount about a while back. It was an MMO type game (just for PS3 and the PC as well I think) with a kind of espionage/secret agent theme to it. There were different factions in it, some fitting the suave James Bond type and others being a bit rougher, 24-style.

Ok, scratch that, it was called The Agency and it got cancelled.

Also, I haven't been on in a while, so can't say if it's officially dead, but when to join a game in Assassins Creed Brotherhood, I could often pick up something to read and look back at the screen a good half hour later and the game would still be looking for a full group to start the match. More the shame, as I actually enjoyed Brotherhood online. At times incredibly frustrating, but what online game doesn't do that at some point?

Frontlines Fuel of War

I bought it for $2 on a Steam sale, even with the sale there were only about 200 people on at its peak.

It's not dead, it just isn't there lol :p the servers got shut down :p
Same with Chromehounds. Liked that game.
i got told about this ages ago, last time i seen my mate online it looked like it was doing fine, loads of people on it, wonder why it died =\
Apparently because Sega couldn't afford to keep the server running <_<.

This is despite the fact that it sold quite well and still had a strong player base after 3 years+!

Tf2. Although not dead, it's content dead. players just come by and trade hats and play till their drop cap is done
I was going to say this. As a result of that, I never play TF2 anymore. A shame, because it was an absolutely amazing game before Valve totally cocked up the opportunity to make it timeless.
I must be constantly picking the right servers, because I've run into that situation all of about once since about a month after trading came about, and yet I hear everyone complaining about this.

OT: Battlefront 2. I suppose I should suspect it, but ah well.

Great games with great multiplayer gone before their time. I shall shed a manly tear for Chromehounds, Unreal Tournament 3, Shadowrun, and many other games that were good at the time, but long forgotten.

I believe the general idea is if you're new to a champ you go in to either a custom game or you play the newish co-op vs ai function until you're comfortable with your items and abilities.

I'm willing to bet the multiplayer to the latest Turok was never alive ^^

This is not true for all people.

OT: I'd say Gears 1 is dead. I thought RDR multiplayer was dead, nope i was wrong it is still alive and fun.
