This is like bringing up the Holocaust and saying something should be done about it.
You mean like that Nazi officer who was convicted of war crimes recently?
But that very officer was taken out of power thanks to the firebombings of massive German industrial cities during the war, an instance many times worse then the killings My Lai. Yes war is horrible, yes these types of cases are horrible, but humanity is horrible, judging a situation like this from the comfort of a modern Western lifestyle is the ultimate hypocrisy.

You should look up what hypocrisy means. I don't think it means what you think it means.

This is hard to give a judgement on. One part of me tells me that they're probably in heavy guilt and are living in regret. The other part of me tells me that justice can't wait.

Inconceivable!

Now, on topic:

The UCMJ states very clearly that under Art. 92, the soldiers HAD to follow the orders given to them. Insubordination in a time of war is punishable by DEATH. It's all fun and gravy to sit here and turn our noses up at what happened, but put yourself in their shoes. The people of My Lai die, or you die. Every one of you, sitting at home with your computers punching little buttons into the internet, would do as instructed. If you disagree, go join the military and prove me wrong.

I don't know if anyone willing to murder, rape and mutilate children in an orgy of blood and fire that lasts several hours can feel guilt.

Yeah, because they were ordered to rape and mutilate the children and women- oh wait.

The worst people are still, people. They may have stooped low but that doesn't mean they can't feel guilty about it. How do you know they did it by choice? If I was in the situation, I would have felt a huge amount of pressure to join in. Having said that, bringing them into justice could be a good way of making them redeem themselves and possibly stop living a life of fear of being caught.

I wonder how usmarine feels about this. Sorry man, I can't remember your numbers >.>.

Join in? Join in??

I don't even... We're talking about men running about and murdering people, mutilating their bodies and setting them on fire. We're talking about children having their heads blown off and thrown down wells. We're talking about unarmed women being beaten and raped. We're talking about torture and war crimes punishable by death.

You would "feel pressure to join in"?

Thank God Hugh was there and not you.

Cool story bro, maybe try altering the date from 1968 on your copypasta next time and you might actually manage to incite some misplaced rage.
A) I wrote it last night.

B) It happened in Vietnam in the late 60's, so why would I change the date?

I don't even... XD

Clearly you have never been to 4chan.
Even there they generally don't dismiss massacres and troll war crimes.

Generally >_>
Well since i have your attention now, why should this event, out of any war crime, take preceedence in our memories over, lets say... the Halocaust?

Why would anyone order importance of war crimes? Why can't we simply seek justice for all war victims? Or is it okay to just brush this off, because hey, it happened a while ago, so who gives a shit?

Sometimes I hate the internet.

it's funny though. everything outside the u.s.: "it was such a long time ago, braw! and it was war, deal with it!".

and we hear the whine about pearl harbor seven decates later still, what a shamefull thing, what treachery it was and how bitterly unjust poor poor americuh was treated, how evel the japanse were and how they all deserved to burn in nuclear fire for it. (despite this one being a military attack on a concentration of military assets, and that one..well, a massacre)

I'm trolling nothing. Raising a clamor over how horrible war crimes are is like beating a dead horse with a morningstar. It's redundant and unnecessary. War is a terrible thing, and during war terrible things are done. How about we go back and complain about the Dark Ages and how horrid those times were? A lot more than 500 were raped, murdered and mutilated at that time. It was only...1600 years ago. I can't believe people have forgotten about it!
