Wait, WHAT? WHERE did you get that, and where do I have to go to find it?
Theres a symphony version of the soundtrack available if you can't stand the MIDI. Hopefully there will be a Chrono franchise resurgence after the DS remake comes out too, so a possibility of the OST being re-released.

Personally I've checked out Uematsu's FF work as it always has an impact on me in context but I still enjoy it in isolation from the game. I'm sure he had a hand in CT's music too.
Silent Hill 2's actual music (as opposed to industrial chaotic noises) is very good as well imo.
Okami's soundtrack is good but I do not enjoy listening to it anything near as much as I do during the game.

I also treat the Super Smash Bro's soundtrack as Nintendo's Greatest Hits collection.

"L.C.H.C" in Grand Theft Auto 4 has gotten me more into Hardcore punk. I was a fan before, but the songs in the game got me more interested in the genre as a whole..

Mafia. I love Django Reinhardt and all that 20's and 30's jazz.
I was surprised to hear quite a lot of Django stuff on Bioshock. Even as you enter the lighthouse near the beginning of the game you hear his rendition of "La Mer (Beyond The Sea)".

I've downloaded a lot of Jeremy Soule's stuff, since I'm a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series. The Morrowind main theme (can't remember the official name for it) is a personal favourite.

Erm....those are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater turned me on to more great bands than any other game, I think. J-Live, Bad Religion, Jimmy Eat World, Alien Ant Farm, Camp Kill Yourself... The list goes on. Those games just had some incredible music.

It's been ages since I've gone and looked up music I've heard in a game as most of the time, I've already heard it or didn't think enough of it to go and find it. However, after playing Primal, many, many years ago, and loving the battle music, I went on a mission and managed to get a copy of a CD off a friend who had apparently know of them for ages. I went round to loads of CD shops looking for it but it was no where to be found, and in retrospect, I have no idea why I didn't just go on the internet.

EDIT: Completely forgot to mention that the band was called 16 Volt and was kind of like industrial metal and it was awesome.

Rise Against and Junkie XL based on their songs from the soundtracks to Burnout 3 and Burnout 4
Future Sounds Of London, Sasha, and Paul Van Dyk from their songs in various Wipeout games (XL, 3, Fusion)

For actual game soundtracks Armored Core 3, Armored Core Nexus, and PN03 are probably my favorites. I likes me some techno.

San Andreas got me into hip hop again. I knew most of the stuff from Master Sounds already but what I didn't have I got soon after.

I also liked the soundtrack for GNR in Fallout 3.

Rez was another soundtrack I went looking for after playing.

Unfortunately the music in games this past year have been rather poor and poorly programmed. Dragon Age is a fun game but I had to turn the music off.
