I got interested in Iron Maiden from playing Carmageddon 2 in 8th grade. They're one of my favorite groups now, though I started liking classical music a lot more.

(REAL classical music like Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann, Mendelssohn...not faux-classical stuff in soundtracks...though soundtracks are cool in their own right.)

I stay clear of the JRPG music, and most of the Japanese music scene (Damn you Maximum the Hormone). Though, occasionally, a game will have a single track which I MUST find.

The clearest case for this for me, is Assassin's Creed. The trailer opened with the use of amazing parkour technique presented by the in-game character of Altair, avoiding crusader's and eastern warriors by jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Backing the incredible freedom inducing mind-numbing properties of these actions was an equally calm and counter-acting song by UNKLE, called Lonely Souls. This one song and this one look into a new style of music, changed my perspective on the listening of music as a whole and brought me into the underground scenes.

While, I'm betting most people have not experienced this in a game, I'd be one of the few who can say their life was changed by a video game montage.

I haven't reached that level of nerdyness yet, but I do have the Portal Still Alive song and Lisa Miskovsky Still Alive (from Mirror's Edge). The portal one is for comedy factor (though it's been drawn out so much now its lost much of its humour thanks to the internet) and Mirror's Edge song is because I think it's really pretty.

I love the soundtracks to the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series. However, recently I've been listening a lot to the soundtrack for Dreamfall. I recently managed to obtain, for the cheap price of £15, the limited edition boxset of Dreamfall, containing the game, The Longest Journey, the OST for Dreamfall, and a 70-odd page concept art book. Great deal, and the OST is brilliant. Great music, especially April Ryan's Theme and Rush...

I'm pretty heavy into JRPGs and subsuqently I was really excited that they were making a sequel to Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. I was checking out the opening cinematic online and the song was ridiculously catchy so I looked it up and found BACK ON. Turns out they also did a special "Tales of" remix for the game's song as well.

I have a couple of their CDs now.

I've discovered a few new groups as a result of my gaming addiction,
Theory of a deadman as a result of playing Indigo Prophecy, Poets of the fall from Max Payne, Saliva from Spy Hunter and a few others.

As a result of the latest trend in gaming is to throw in a copy of the soundtrack I'm currently going through a classical phase thanks to Demon's Souls and Dragon Age with a little bit of J-Pop accredited to Bayonetta.

I was also a huge fan of the Wipeout soundtracks, specifically wipeout 2097.

If they are an established group then I've attempted to get most of their work once I've discovered that I like them.

So in short, yeah I'm a sucker for soundtracks.

Yes I did look up Faunts. Downloaded m4 part 1 and 2 onto my mp3 player, but since then my pc has been wiped, and I got an ipod. Hopefully I find the usb cord for the old one.
Edit: I'm also interested in some of the songs off of SSBB.

I really, really, really, really, really, REALLY want the orange box soundtrack.
It's 10 bucks at the Valve store.
I know, but that's ten dollars I don't have.
spend the 10 bucks on audiosurf, that way you get soundtrack AND an awesome game

FYI the game (audiosurf) comes with the soundtrack

After discovering the brilliance that is Touhou music, I also discovered the myriad of groups that make arranges of its music. TAMusic, Virus Key, Marasy, NeutraL, Liz Triangle, WAVE, Demetori, a slew of downloading later, and I am a very happy panda.

The music in JSRF (Jet Set Radio Future) was what first inspired both me and my sister to buy game soundtracks, and we now have a pretty impressive list including the Halo (all the Halos), Bioshock, Assassins Creed (both)and JSRF soundtracks.

Unfortunately not all of our beloved music could be obtained legally...

Final Fantasy nine and ten are the only games I've spent money for on the albums, and even then only for a few choice songs. FF games tend to have massive albums.
