Music played at your funeral. Yes, a rather morbid and down trodden thread.

I'm told my grandma had Spirit in the Sky and Bat Out of Hell (her funeral was last wednesday).

All my other grandparents had pretty normal songs, but I guess I want to go the madcap route.

Something big and bombastic like the Battle Hyme of the Republic, or One Day More from les Miserables, then something that I really like, like Bad Moon Rising or Folsom Prison Blues.

Dunno about any others. I'd be more one for a wake anyway, rather than a funeral.

I also recently recorded me playing knocking on heavens door and singing it. I just played the basic 4 chord song then soloed over it, I thought it was pretty good. Anyways that would probably be played.

Where to start?

-Most if not all of the MTV Live & Unplugged in New York Nirvana performance.

-'In My Life' by The Beatles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI0Q8ytD44Y

-'Today' by Smashing Pumpkins

Think it'd be one of those, but if I had to pick one I think I'd chose either 'Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam' or 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night?' both preformed by Nirvana during their Unplugged performance.

either Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust", Megadeth's "A Tout Le Monde"([small]dont let the name "Megadeth" be offputting, its a great song[/small]), Van Halen's "Eruption", Gun's N Roses' "Knockin on Heavens Door", or this

"Ace of Spades".

Then I would spring up from my casket, grow a beard, put on some shades, and hop on a motorcycle and ride off into the sunset.

Fuck yeah.

Into Each Life Some Rain must Fall- The Ink Spots & Ella Fitzgerald.

Very sad. And fitting. I also could go with I don't Want to Set the World on Fire-The Ink Spots.

I've got a whole iPod playlist just for my funeral music, even though I think funerals are a bunch of crap.
iPod AND playlist get spell-checked?!

I've had this conversation with my partner because I'm not likely to last to long and wanted to get it sorted. It's not morbid it's sensible, I saw a family member have all his wishes ignored at his funeral recently and I know that isn't going to happen to me because I know she will quite happily play Die MF Die by Dope. The people that know me will leave the funeral smiling and those that don't will have to put up with me getting at them one last time!
