I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to post the scans here but Playstation Magazine said Fallout New Vegas would have some old western numbers too along with the traditional 40's-50's tunes.

If you want to check this out if you where to go to No Mutants Allowed (staying way clear of angry old school fallout veterans in the forums) and scroll down the page past a few new's articles I couldn't be held responsible for magazine scans you may or may not come across.

I mean, it's Vegas.

When I was playing Bioshock I always thought this would be perfect for Fallout.

The same sort of stuff in Fallout 3. Some more Billy Holiday would be nice.
More Billie Holiday would be awesome. I still love the opening of Fallout 2 with Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss to Build a Dream On." I fell in love with the game from that moment. Some Rosemary Clooney would be nice as well.

You could get away with it. Those years did happen, they just didn't have the same musical and cultural revolution of the real world. So this type of song still could have existed.

Kind of like the ancient Egyptians. Their culture remained largely the same for almost a 1000 years (I think).

Blues, jazz and basicly classics. Fallout is a mix between sci-fi and and 1950's culture, so it has to fit the theme of Fallout. And since New Vegas isn't a decript hell-hole like the Capital Wasteland we can be pretty sure that you'll get some radiostations (you receive a pip-boy from one of the 3 vault dwellers, I'm not sure which one though).

Stephane Grappelli, Benny Goodman, maybe some Chick Webb.
And it would be nice to see more Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald this time 'round.
And Django Reinhardt goes without saying. The man had three working fingers!!!

Now tell me that doesn't sound like a Fallout tune!

You get the pip-boy and a vault jumpsuit by Doctor Mitchell, who's from vault 21, which was opened a long time before the story begins.

Thank you Fallout Wiki.

Rock n' Roll was never invented in the Fallout universe. So no Metal either.
Hasn't Rock and Roll appeared in all the previous games?

And how doyou know what was or wasn't invented in the Fallout universe? We haven't even seen if it's an alternate universe or if it's a future for the one we live in.

Maybe it is Rock n' Roll *shrugs* I don't know, I struggle to work out the difference between genres, especially old music. They certainly didn't invent metal.

That being said it's been established since the beginning that the Fallout universe before the World War 3 was what the people of the 1950's believed the future would be like. It may be 1950 or 1945 where our world or their world splits, but either way it did. While our world evolved culturally the Fallout universe evolved technologically. Until 2077 when they blew each other to shit.

But the Divergance theory hasn't been noted in any of the actual games themselves, it's based on speculation and the Fallout Bible, not the games themselves.

I'd like to hear some Elvis in New Vegas. Even if they don't have all the Elvis impersonators in New Vegas, a song or two of his would be awesome on the radio.

They need to add in a "User Created" radio station where it will play music from your PC, like in GTA.

EDIT: Than I can cruise the Wastelands in style, and dispatch mutants with the glorious sound of Tchaikovsky
I liked doing Agatha's sidequest in Fallout 3 and unlocking her station. It was a nice change switching from Three Dog to Agatha sometimes. I really hope they put something like that in New Vegas.

Ok. I suppose if you just want to go by what the games out right told it may have never been said. But then again none of the characters would actually know if there culture stagnated as they have no comparison.

I'm pretty sure Fallout 3 kept pointing and jabbing at it but I'd understand if you just ignored that.
