I've written a few songs over the years, but this guitar demo I wrote recently I'm particularly pleased with. Hopefully the rest of my band will write parts for it too.
First off:
I really like the basic structure of the song, it's well put together etc.
Secondly: The solo at the end was really good (is there a bit of Floyd Rose-ing in there?)
Third: TO be honest: I didn't like the first distorted guitar you introduced. The structuring and set-up worked, but the sound didn't do anything for me.

not much to share, but for procrastination reasons I will make an account right now and see what's on my LoopStation
edit, that was easy:
guitar stuff, not anywhere near "songs":

Oldies but Goldies, a relaxed drum'n bassey Reason track from 9 years ago:
https://soundcloud.com/purf/ixminuseins
The stuff from your loopstation was really nice, very relaxed, I liked that, though at some parts it seemed as if the volume was a bit off on some tracks, but that might have been intentional.
I can't really comment on ixminuseins, seeing as I am not a drum and bass afficionado, but I did listen to it and I did kinda like it.
Neither of them particularly good despite a generally positive reception from those who have listened to them so far. They are more just experiments to see what I could come up with than anything.
The dischordant-bassy one was spot on, very nicely done.
The dark / mysterious one was ok as well, but not quite as good as the other one, mostly because the drum track was too bright and didn't really fit in with the rest of the song.
This was interesting, usually I don't listen to a lot of Hip-Hop, but this was very well done. Keep it up.

All my stuff is currently demos made with a drum machine until I can get my bandmates to work on their bits.
This is my current favourite and the first one I ever self-produced(and mixed like a monkey)
First off:
I would consider myself a guitarist if I am being honest, though only an average one I would venture.
Secondly: The song was really well structured and put together, but I didn't really like the sound. The distortion seemed to "cheap" and very much digital, whilst it seemed to lack any kind of real "punch", but that might be due to your recording situation. The song itself, as I said, was really good, if somewhat long.
Also: Hi there, glad you found your way out of the guitarists of the escapist group, WHICH IS A GROUP ALL YOU GUITARISTS POSTING HERE SHOULD TOTALLY JOIN.
Note to self: Lock that guy in a room with a keyboard, record whatever he puts out, delete any SOSs hidden in the music and sell the stuff to the Jazz chrowd.
Second note to self: Make sure the room is properly ventilated, it's what got the last guy.

Ok, while this scares the shit out of me and I'm probably gonna regret this, I'm willing to share these two.
Just a little piano and cello thing I had to create to land a project.

And one other little thing I had to do for the same project.

They seem a bit muffled if I am honest. Is that intentional or simply due to technical stuff and compression?
I did like piano better btw.
(What kinda project was this recorded for?)

Yeah that's meeee.
Something my brother and I made earlier this year, just for kicks.
Like it says, it's not finished but I'm kind of happy with it.
It's a bit reminiscent of some garage-punk bands, and if that's the sound you were going for you succeeded. If it's not, then I apologize profoundly.
Also, you could do with some more shrill stuff in between to spicen things up a little.

I listened to some of your tracks and I liked "free" best. Also, in my opinion, the drum-tracks could do with a little less volume in the mix, but that's just me.
Peace in chaos was also good.
Still breathing wasn't really my cup of tea.

Haaaaaalright... So, quick explanations before i do. The quality is dreadful. I'm not exaggerating, I mean recorded with a phone awful. So the words are gonna be a little bit hazy, but i honestly think these are both good. Both come with vocals and multiple guitars, one with drums, so they're almost full songs. You're just going to have to sit back and enjoy the sound of it all rather than appreciate the words...
But yeah, we were all going places, college and shit, so we just wanted to record a couple songs before we left for a long time.
https://soundcloud.com/max-knibb
There's a video of Rain Song, but we mess up a couple of times (bare in mind we hadn't practiced the song and a lot of it was improvisation). I prefer the shit quality one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOOkg3PiI9c
Don't listen to any other songs on that guys channel either, he's not great.
You weren't exaggerating, the quality truly is dreadful, which is why I am very sad to say that I didn't listen to all of it and I feel it would be unfair to judge you based on this recording.
(Do you have a singer? I genuinely am not sure if I can make out someone's voice.)

Man...that's some good stuff, Escapists!
Here's my contribution. Only downside is that it reveals my true identity. And unfortunately, it's not Sir Ben Kingsley.

My Bio explains it all. But feel free to select any track. Although this group may appreciate the "Doctor Who Theme (All Guitar Version)"
YOU ARE NOT SIR BEN KINGSLEY?
BUT..
But..
but...
HOW?
WHY?
you sir have destroyed my worldview, shame on you.
TO the songs:
Full moon is ok, though the drum-track is too prominent and the drum-intro a bit too long, whilst the guitar could do with being a bit louder.
Dun Widdett is better in that regard and a better song overall.
Midnight Caravan:
The structure is nice, but I didn't really like the distortion, seemed a bit too , but then again, this might be intentional.
The Doctor Who Theme was well done.
Wasted Time: You made good use of pinch-harmonics on this one and I really liked the lead-guitar, but the rhythm guitar could do with a little less gain. Again, just my opinion.

This was all kinds of fucked up, and I mean this in a good way. Not really what I would listen to in my off time, but if I ever need to give my nightmares a soundtrack, I think this might be a good place to start.
Unsettling would be another way of accurately describing your output.

Here's a link to my band's album, which you can download for free or name a price that works for you.
I bought it, though I must admit, I could only give you a dollar for it, because money is somewhat tight at the moment. I did listen to most of it already and I liked it. It was fast and upbeat, the lyrics were good as were the vocals. Overall, It's a bit reminiscent of blink-182, but with more ska...
They don't sound that way on my end, but then again it was probably how the music creation software that I used at the time compressed things. There's a myriad of reasons why I don't use it anymore.
A game that I'm doing the music for. Technically, those two were for a game that I was working on, but later got dropped by the creator for....reasons that were never explained to me actually. So I just use them as a reference of work, and they just sit there doing nothing.
Pretty cool, dude. Ska's not really my cup of tea but the quality is there, if I had any money I'd buy it alas I am broke. Out of curiosity, is Haiku really a haiku?
Nope. It was originally called that because our bassist was a bit obsessed with haikus at the time, so he wanted us to write lyrics out purely in haikus. Everything we tried didn't really work out, so we went with the lyrics we have and simply kept the title for the memories. Also, thanks for the feedback. We also get the whole being broke thing, considering we have a song literally called, "Broke."

Thanks for listening to the songs, Caliban (all of ours, for that matter)! And the feedback is always appreciated.
Yes, mixing is not my strong suite. Eventually, I plan to go back and redo the tracks at the right levels.
Until then, the site serves as more of a "Musical Resume" on what I can play and write.
I have a side gig as an "e-Session Guitarist". So I typically just lay down the guitar tracks and leave the final mix-down to someone else.
Quick comment about "Wasted Time": that's my "Tribute to Pink Floyd". So the gain and effects were intentional to give it that psychedelic feel . And, the main melody is derived from Gilmore's guitar solo in "Time".
Musicia - *sees thread content* Aw.. I thought you meant like instrumental, not videos and the like I have nothing to share in that case *goes back to lurking the forums*
I was gonna contribute since I still play a bunch of instruments but then I saw it was people contributing compositions :/ I tend to play more improv piano and not record myself.

Recorded some stuff when I was in school because they had an awesome studio. Had to learn everything from scratch with no prior knowledge, both with the technical stuff and the instruments.
The results? Meh. An old friend of mine played the drums while I did the vocals and guitar(only bass guitar in a few songs, not sure why we skipped it). We did most of it in one-take recordings, apart from the vocals, and couldn't bother to do it again if something messed up.
Wake Up... Time to Act! and Metal Pig II: The Journey Out of Hell are probably the least ear bleeding. They're the last songs we did(second one being written and recorded during our very last 30 minutes of school before graduation) so we were at least a bit better than when we started out.
Don't play much these days since I can't figure out what the hell I want to play. Pondering between Swedish trallpunk and death metal at the moment, but I still suck too much at guitar to make it work and I don't have the patience to practise.
Secondly: The song was really well structured and put together, but I didn't really like the sound. First of all, I do post outside of the guitarist group(Which everyone should totally join by the way, quote or PM me), it's just that I prefer Lurking because the general populace of the forums scare me.
Also, if you're talking bout the rhythm distortion, I'll admit, I lowered the gain on that because, it being my first shot at recording, I didn't want it to be too muddy.
Also, almost all of my songs on soundcloud are long, breaking 6 minute epic length. I love my music long, hard, fast and incoherent(like my sex/masturbation/Thesis work)
I have to say I was quite surprised by the amount of people who actually had a listen to the stuff I have out there (which of course isn't very hard when you don't expect anything.) So thanks for that and for what it's worth, I'd like to think I returned the favor at least to some extent.
Neither of them particularly good despite a generally positive reception from those who have listened to them so far. They are more just experiments to see what I could come up with than anything.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you on the drum track for the second song. It is mostly that way because I was experimenting with deliberately bad time signatures, ending up with 13 over 7, whatever that means (I should also note that I am in no way musically educated and have no idea what I'm doing in the creation of these things other than making something that sounds nice to me). I think that resulted in a situation where I would either have some very off-putting silences in each bar or I would have to fill every possible beat per bar just to get it sounding vaguely decent (a property of choosing prime numbers I suspect). If I continue to make music I will definitely be sure to use more traditional time signatures.
Do singers count in this thread? :/ 'cause even though I love music, I kinda suck at playing instruments.
I do fan covers of songs on my youtube channel (Which obviously I can't link here, but it is on my profile. =P)
I wouldn't want to link them here anyway though, tbh. I don't think I'm very good. :/
I do practice singing, pretty much everyday, and I'll probably continue making them just for fun. I just wish it was easier to find instrumental versions of songs. D:
Note to self: Lock that guy in a room with a keyboard, record whatever he puts out, delete any SOSs hidden in the music and sell the stuff to the Jazz crowd.

D'aw, you'll make me blush.
And hey, if you can keep me supplied with beer and pizza I'm all yours.
