Im not a musician, but every single person i know can play "Smoke on the water" by Deep Purple, probably the dumbest song ever and its so extremely uncomplicated i have no idea how it even managed to get popular.

The riff or the song? 'Cos the solo's actually rather difficult.

They can't play the entire song, just the main riff, there is actual hard parts when trying to play it, it's just so easy to focus on the 1 famous line and not the rest of the song.

Oh and the easiest song for me was "willie and the poor boys" by Creadence clearwater revival (on bass), pretty much the only entire song I took the time to play, it's just three different lines repeated and it's not too fast or difficult to remember the order.

Coldplay - Clocks [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9j_RZDqYc4]
I taught someone who had never played piano before how to play Clocks in less than two minutes.

Suite Pee by System of A Down on bass was the first and easiest song i learned.
It was harder for me to tune down to drop C then it was to play that song. Having said that is so much fun!

Probably Brain Stew.

Though I honestly find "About a Girl" easier if you play it the way most people do (Wrongly).

Green Eyes by Coldplay has 5 chords in the entire song, only 2 of which are used in the chorus.

Riff-wise either Smoke On The Water (because everyone does) or the guitar duel from Deliverance

Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel.

The cello part. There's nothing easier that I've ever come across, unless plucking the A string a bunch of times counts as a song.

Any cellists here will know what I'm talking about, but for those who don't play, here it is:

D.....A......B......F#........G........D.......G........A........

Repeat for the entire piece.

It's a very beautiful piece, though, so it is quite nice to not have to pay all that much attention to your own playing so you can be envious of the great violin parts in it.
