Ever had one of those moments where your mind thought about doing something incredibly stupid and for a moment you were actually tempted to do it before thinking about the consequences?

That just happened to me as there are RCMP officers sitting at the table beside me in this Starbucks and I was suddenly thrown into a daydream where I stole one of their pistols and ran off. Naturally I'm not about to do it but the fact I was tempted to for about 3 seconds is a little worrying.

So, what stupidity impulses have you resisted? Or, even worse, succumbed to?

A couple of nights ago I was very close to cutting myself. It was partly because I was feeling really bad, and partly out of curiosity.

Anyway, now I feel really stupid for even considering it.

I wish there was a save/load function in real life for this exact reason. Then you can save, do something stupid, and reload and not actually do it, but have the experience of doing it.

I act on my stupid impulses sometimes.
When i was 13 i wrapped up a slim jim to look like a blunt and asked a cop for a light.
??? nobody dared me to do that, i just did it.
P.S
i didnt go to jail....

Reminds me of playing Oblivion recently. Did the quest with the Rockshatter mace, then when the wife took it back, I was really annoyed because I liked the mace. So I saved, and then punched in the head repeatedly. Then I re-loaded up from before then, and walked away, instead of giving into the stupid impulse of just killing her and taking the mace back, considering my character is a paladin after all.

i find these impulses are vastly increase after a few drinks, i once took all the work maintenance signs from the area i lived and stacked them as high as i could because whilst sober i wondered how high could have made it ha.
although one i have never given into is stealing a bus, everytime im on one i just wonder what it would be like

once when drunk, i noticed a female cop, went over to her, asked if she would throw cuffs on me and sexually abuse me in jail..

she only laughed.. Don't think she realised i was serious...

When you commute 120 miles a day, you think about things...

"I wonder what would happen if I P.I.T.'ed this car next to me at 85 MPH..."

Life would be perfect in such a world.

One stupid impulse to which I succumbed was when I got a scratch on my chest and thought "that would look pretty sweet if it scarred." So yes, I grabbed my knife and cut across the scratch to make a scar. Totally worked.

I also wanted to cut my history lecturer's brake lines. That was when I decided to drop out of uni, before I ended up in prison.

Bridge jumping is another one, a local bridge is about 40 metres high but always get the temptation to jump before I hit myself for being stupid. Bad Axel, bad! Stop being such a moron!

I once had the strange impulse to try and copy when you jump off a high place in any of the legend of zelda games and he rolls to avoid any damage. so there I was on my roof contemplating how I would pull off the roll once I landed, which sadly was almost jumping down head first, luckily I did not do it and I am very sad I even contemplated doing that.

If you'd let a train ride over your fingers, how would it feel?
Um...I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it would FUCKING HURT.

OT: Um...Well, when I spent a week in Washington DC and used the Metro to get around, whenever a train would arrive I got the urge to stick my out in front of it. Like I'm going to high-five it or something. Despite the fact that, as previously discussed, that would fucking hurt.

my friends and i took a 'for sale' sign for no reason. one just said 'how funny would it be if we took that sign' and i did. we got out of the part where the sign was, still holding it, and i said 'here take it!'
it ended up in a river.

Yeah, though it's usually instincts to say things I can't take back, and could have dire consequences.

Have a lot of that at the moment.

I get stupid impulses on a fairly regular basis, so they're not particularly memorable, unless they're reoccurring. Occasionally I'll do a few of 'em too.
Hm... lessee what I remember... chucking stuff, bringing in 4-5 action figures to put on me work desk, shoving friends about, saying stupid things in meetings, random comments in code/commit messages, buying stuff then wondering why I did it...

If you learned to do a parkour roll you could pull that off without much trouble. Unless it's a double-storey, it which case I'd advise against it.
