Voted Johnny Mnemonic. Keanu as Neo 1.0, Henry Rollins, Dolf Lundgren and Ice-T. It's a non-stop, cyberunk thrill ride from start to finish!
Loved that movie. I Won't spoil it for anyone, but all I have to say is "cyber-dolphins!"

Also Henry Rollins was in Heat, which I am not sure if it falls under the rules of this topic, but that was also a great movie.

I keep watching "Groundhog's day" like I am actually stuck in the movie too. Thank god for late night Korean TV I never get sick of it.

The Big Lebowski is never a let down, probably one of my favorites. And if you've NEVER seen 'The Jerk' do so. It is Steve Martin's best work ever, I've shown that movie to people who don't speak a lick of English and gotten riotous laughter out of them. If you haven't seen the movie, do.

Maybe a little Night at the Roxbury if you like 90s SNL skits, and don't take yourself too seriously.

Off the beaten path, eh?

I'd go for Kubrick movies, Clockwork Orange and 2001 were already mentioned, so I'll just add The Shining, Dr. Strangelove and Full Metal Jacket. Speaking of war movies, I suggest you see Apocalypse Now if you haven't already.

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead - Hamlet and Waiting for Godot + funny stuff.

And, last but not least, a honourable non-Hollywood mention: Stalker. It's not a movie for everybody, though, it takes it's time. That is to say it doesn't conform to the strict rules of cinematic narrative. That is to say it is made to be experienced rather than enjoyed. And it's Russian. And it's a Tarkovsky. OK, it might seem boring to an average guy. But if you're into artsy philosophical stuff and don't mind having flashbacks for a week or so: go for it. Oh, and it's based on Roadside Picnic by the Strugacki brothers, read it first. And, no, the movie's not about Chernobyl, it was made before the Chernobyl incident.

About Dune, do yourself a favour and read the book instead, neither the movie nor the miniseries do it justice.

I just love writing about movies. Consider this my hi-I'm-new-here post.

And Chocolat (French spelling) sort of French film but its English language. The Depp is good in that. And Alfred Molina is in it (Dr Oct).
Yeah John Candy films are sweet family entertainment.

Dude, you can't let me see movie threads... I've seen (and own) too many movies, I could end up typing all day.
Good god man! Thanks for that amazing list! You also got about 95% pre-2000, so well done! I actually had to print this page instead of copying the movies down! I've seen about 85% of the ones you talked about, but with everyone else pitching in, I have about 20 movies to watch. You guys are uber! Keep 'um comin!

Dark Crystal. I love it, but people are always like "Is that like Labyrinth?" and I'm like, "Totally! Except without the singing and suck!"
Absolutely scares the shit out of me, even to this day. And did you also here they are trying to make a Last Starfighter 2? Good god! Leave the oldies but goodies alone!

Why pre-2000? the nineties weren't exactly interesting.
Because there are more to the pre-2000's than the 90s! lol

I actually got to see the Remastered Version of Bladerunner in a theater here in Durham about a month ago and it was awesome! I guess it was like the final unrated version (uncut and digitally mastered) and I'm so glad I spent the whole 7 dollars to see it :)

Also, sorry for 3 posts in a row. I just went right down the list and started responding.

Y'want more, lemme know what genres you like...

My personal favorites are the screw-with-your-head type I call Mind Fucks.
Apt Pupil, Cube (Already mentioned but still good), Seven, Kiss the Girls, Bone Collector, The Corruptor, Donnie Darko, Basic, The Sum of All Fears, The Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum, 12 Monkeys, Snake Eyes...
I've actually seen all of those except for Apt Pupil which I will now add to my list. I'm actually a BIG Stephen King fan, but I really like his books better than all of the mini-series and shows, except for the Shining...good god *shiver*.

I know there are some really good 70's and 80's movies I should have watched as well that I'm sure I've missed. I'm a big fan of some of the stereotypical 80's movies: Lucas, Say Anything, Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Can't Buy Me Love, 16 Candles, ummm...I'm sure there are more but some like that.

Necroswanson, I agree with you too. I've seen all of those and very good. The CoMC movie was great but very very different from the book. I was disappointed about that but still a great movie. Poor Jim Varney *tear*
