Was wondering what should be my next purchase? Modern Warfare 2 or Dragon Age: Origins
Just finished Demon's Souls and Dragon Age was looking like my next purchase until the ZP review.
MW2 has been getting rave reviews and I need me some head shot fix. So just wondering, thanks.

Modern Warfare 2. The story was great, and the multiplayer is pretty much unparalleled by any other game. plus spec ops is fun to play with a friend.

Dragon Age definitely, I don't see any comparison between the two.
Both offer the chance to slaughter some innocent civilians?

And you are questioning your purchase on the ZP review? The one where he said he was 25 hours in and wanted to see more? That review?

Dude, they're not even the same type of animal. They are both rad, but I have put alot more time into DA:O though. So yeah I'd probably pick that, I can only kill so many innocent would be aeronautical travelers and whiney kids over the internets.

And the ZP review shouldn't influence your decision. He didn't really bash the game so much as he bashed the content it was based on and pointed out the obvious things that are in every Bioware game. The church of Yahtzee will forgive you.... and if not, it's totally worth it.

I wouldn't look too far into that ZP review. I mean, the guy admitted to liking it. He spent most of the review complaining, sure, but that's just what he does.

Tough to compare the two, honestly. I loved both for completely different reasons. DA is long and deep, MW2 is short and sweet. Both are just about the best at what they do, so it's just a matter of which you're more in the mood for.

Don't base what games you buy off of Yahtzee's critiques. Buy what you feel like buying. Why do you need our opinions?

Besides, these two games are totally different.

I fail to see how that factors in.

If you liked the game before the review then get it.

The squid makes an exellent point. Sounds like Yahtzee did seem to enjoy it.

I wouldn't really take ZP's reviews to heart, just for entertainment. OT: I can't give advice, I've only played MW2 and it's pretty fun however Dragon Age looks awesome too, just get both haha.

Ask yourself; do you want to play a game with a 7 hour campaign but decent multiplayer or do you want to play a game with a 90 hour campaign and no multiplayer?
Is generic fantasy your cup of tea or do you prefer generic military fun?
Do you want to play as a squishy normal person who dies in two bullets or would you rather play as a fun RPG custom character surrounded by a bunch of fun well written characters?

buy mw2 for the combat and multiplayer then if you're still creving dragon age origins simply say "fuck it!" and wait to but mass effect 2 (by the way i am in no way saying dragon age is a bad game)

The only thing i took from the ZP review was the Carbon Copy aspect, I play a lot of fantasy games and was wondering if there was anything spectacularly different about it. Oh and for the PS3 by the by

If you want a single player experience, get the RPG. If you want the multiplayer experience, get the shooter. This formula hasn't changed in 10+ years. Next case please.

I didn't actually watch that review yet, I've played the game. You people on this site need to stop treating Yahtzee like an omniscient executive on games.
Agreed. Though he does make some good points, I look at other reviews.

Then I rent it to see if I'll like the game.

Though I finish usually finish it well before the return date, so my plan doesn't really work out that well.

Depends on what you like. Action and awesome characters or a bland storyline with nothing but sterotypical monotoned voice actors.
Modern Warfare 2 is shorter by ages but it's actually fun.

Dragon Age is the best RPG in years (since BG2, even).
MW2 isn't even really better than MW1.

MW 2 has a sweeet campaign, and revolves around the skill of the player rather than bullshit stat building. In my opinion it's better in the case of characters, story, single player gameplay AND multiplayer gameplay.

Buuuuut Dragonage has atmosphere I'll admit but it's the same as all the other generic fantasy RPG games

For me his reviews are always a week late at least. By then I have checked real reviews and gameplay footage if the game isn't a must have. I was just shocked he was planning on buying it but was second guessing when ZP gave it as close to 2 thumbs up as it gets.
