Modern Warfare, as a Clancy-esque Thriller, seems MUCH easier and more potentially successful then a HALO movie. Make it a Sum of All Fear's action movie, James Bond + The A-Team + OH GOD NUKES. The damn script writes itself, the hard part is making the story compelling and thought provoking and not just having strawman Vewy Bad Tewwowists as the villains.
But the game already feels like a movie. It'd be like making a Mass Effect movie.

Or a book about the Harry Potter books.

Plus, in order to market it to everybody else that isn't a gamer, they'd have to dumb down the plot to the level of a Michael Bay movie.

It'll still be terrible of course. Maybe I just watched Red Dawn too often as a kid.
Yea, that movie set the bar a tad high.

He looks more like Soap than Soap, so more power to him.

(I always imagined Soap looking like the guy on the cover of the game, not like Marcus Fenix with a mohawk.)

I will watch it if, and only if, Russia/Russians are not the enemy. I am so tired of the demonization of Russia in media, especially in this day and age.
Why would the enemies not be Russians? They have been the main enemies the entire game and at the end of MW2
you kill the American bad guy, so all that's left is taking out the Russian one.

A movie based on CoD: Modern Warfare? Isn't it kind of redundant, what with the game already being cinematic and Michael-Bay-ish up the arse?

I wouldn't see it unless they included dedicated servers. In the film.

Ok, I'm sorry, that was silly. I don't think a call of duty film has much potential.

hopefully its NOT Uwe Boll directing the movie, even though he´ll be begging for it.

It seems to me if they made a movie about CoD, it would really just be a "war" movie just for the sake of making money, which is good from a business's point of view as thats what they (businesses) do.

But from a consumer's point of view its quiet useless, as you watch maybe a 1.5-2 hour movie for $20 ish, That will have little or no reference to anything.

If they devolped another game it would cost as much as a feature length film, give consumers about 10+ hours of entertainment and make more money.

So really just make another game.

It would probably end up being totally shit, but I'd quite like to see a Modern Warfare film. MW2 felt like an action film anyway.

Maybe it could work if they flesh out the characters, fill the plot holes and keep Michael Bay a million miles away from it.

Wait, wait, wait... How in the name of holy hell and a cowbell could he have voiced Soap in CoD4?

I feel like playing the credits in MW1 just to see if he was mentioned...
You can just check it out on IMDB:

By using your link, I was able to deduce that...
Holy crap! I knew Ghost sounded familiar! He's voiced by Gaz's actor!

Anyway, I'll put this on my see eventually list with the all the other zillion game movies that never will be.

Dumb MW2 down? That is a frightening possibility.

Five bucks says IW's Modern Warfare Movie drops dedicated theater support.

Seriously though, maybe the movie could be a goldmine. Since the Action-Movie-Feel is what they've said they've always been going for in the COD series, maybe going into an all-out feature length film would be their strong point.

Good actor loved him in Rome, lets just hope he can remember that he's using a combat knife or an ice pick and not a gladius. If they wrote a good enough script for the movie I'd probably watch it.

to Mckidd:go burn in hell for ruining the character.
This warrants explanation.

Exactly how was Soap, a character who was mute and had next to zero back story and absolutely no dialogue in the original game get ruined exactly?

How do you ruin a blank template? By taking a piss on it I guess. But that's not exactly what they did. Captain MacTavish was pretty badass. His only crime (Questionable hairstyle aside) is sounding too much like Christopher Eccleston. I thought I was rolling with the eighth doctor for the first couple of missions.

If his only offense is sounding too much like another badass I have to wonder how Soap was, "Ruined".
that'd be awesome!

"Roach, to get through this next bit I'm going to use my Tardis to unleash a sonic wave, that ought to do thr trick. Then later instead of planting the C4 I can just sprinkle this Narfa dust in the air, and the whole installation will disappear.... I wish I hadn't come back with this haircut"
