It's called the hype train. People like to ride on it.
If MW 2 isn't your cup of tea, just leave the people who like it to their own devices. (Unless they're acually harassing you or something)

Why are you still playing Battlefield Bad Company 2? Because you enjoy it? Asking someone to not take a statement as hypocirsy, when that statement is a prime example of the word, is not a good idea.

ok this has been on my mind since release and I can't find an answer, I'm the only male gamer in my class that doesn't own a copy of modern warfare 2 and I don't intend to because I just can't find any replay value in it. alot of people in my school are getting excited for black ops (even if they're underage)which will most likely replace MW2. So tell me, Why are people playing this? The only shooter that I own and currently play is Battlefield bad company 2, and even then that's only because I like the vehicle sections(please don't take that statement as hypocrisy)
Imo, IWard killed off all CoD4:2's replay value when they fucked over the PC version with Iward.net rather than leaving it as a player driven multiplayer. I hated this change so much that the single player couldnt possibly be good enough to make me buy it.

Its because MW2 is easy to play. You can have downs syndrome and still get a nuke.

Battlefield Bad company 2 is too difficult for COD players even though it is the superior and far more enjoyable FPS.
Kind of feel bad now, I struggle to get a UAV most of the time.

I own BC2 and it's not better, it's more balanced and bigger but it has it problems. I find MW2 more enjoyable then constantly fighting 6 man armies of snipers.

(I know there called recon but these guys play sniper, not spotting or helping, just sat miles away getting 4 kills a match)

I played Bad Company 2 today and a bit yesterday and it drove me MAD after 30 minutes. It's just like Modern Warfare, extremely fast-paced and unrealistic, not my kind of shooter. This is NOT the games fault, mind, it's my own for not liking it, don't flame me >>. The diference between MW2 and BC2 is that in MW2 you can see what the hell is going on because there's less of the FUCKING DUST(!!) and BC2 have drivable vehicles... They are just as annoying to play =3.

Project Reality ftw!

Stop being silly. People can't think in the same way, everyone thinks in a unique way. You might not find it fun but plenty of others do. I still play CoD4 every day.
You stop being silly! *pushes and runs away*
Buh... Buh...

MEANIE!

Haha, I have you now!!

You get better at MW2 after a while. And even then you can still have some really terrible games. There's nothing quite like going 18 kills to 4 deaths, followed by three games of about 12 kills and deaths, and then a nice old 1 kill to 23 deaths.

My brother has played it every day since its release He obviously is taking some form of enjoyment from it, i believe we had a well worded thread on why its fun, ill go dig it up.
I'm... so sorry for your brother.
If he stops playing, then please give him a cookie for me.

OT: I don't care for the game, but I guess people just enjoy it. I do remember times where I wanted to enjoy it because that is what everyone else always played. But now I say "Screw it, this game is too horrible to enjoy".

I just hope its that I'm ahead of everyone else and they will all start putting the game down. =(

"I don't like it, that means that nobody else should! Why can't people understand that I'm the only one who's right?!"

That's you. That's what you sound like.

People love that game. I own it. I played the Single player campaign, did some of the special ops missions, and have only played one game online with a friend. Some people never play the campaign. To each their own I suppose.

Their COD is my Portal and visa versa., i dont like the game, but i wont knock it.
Its a solid, Polished game and the Spec Ops redeems it somewhat.

People have been playing Counter-Strike since the original mod came out in 1999.

Think about that for a few seconds.

It's crazy 'cos I mostly get dominated, then once every million games something beautiful happens and I get a 5 kill streak which leads to a 7 then a 9 or 11 and I end up with a score of 40 odd with 2 deaths ... then the very next game I back to breaking even, give or take a few kills/deaths.

Then I play ground war and end up with 0 kills and 40 deaths and the top guy has the opposite and I think "how the fuck did that guy do that! My longest life was 10 seconds".

Got to admit, picking the riot shield and blast shield and letting people wail on you is fun! Till some cocky fuck runs in from the side and knifes me!

I dont have it because i refuse to pay over £30 for a pc game.
But i still would not get mw2...I am a single player man and I already played though the single playing and most of the extra modes at a mates house.
If you want to know want all the fuss is about rent it. the single player will last you a day or a night and some of the extra modes will last you maybe another. Then the multilayer will nicely take you up to the give back day...then make your mind up.

People still play World of Warcraft and it's old now? Six or 7 years? Hell, people still played Starcraft until the second one just came out. Online games age more slowly than single player games, and just because something has been out a year doesn't mean they've owned it a year. A lot of times I don't buy a game until I can find it for less than $40.

You didn't put any thought into this. Terrible topic, bleh.

I technically just got it Saturday. I say technically because my brother got it for his birthday. The next day he litterally woke up, started playing, stopped playing, and went to bed. 12 hours of straight MW2.... And he's not even a "gamer"

I reordered it and got it in the male today and thanks to the PSN crash earlier this year had to replay the main campaign to get the trophies. I started to play online but I'm a level 4 and I was about to be matched with lvls 54 and up and just wasn't prepared for the pwnage. Probably team up with some veteran friends b4 I dedicate myself to it.

Less competent people or small children enjoy it very much.

Well that at least applies to the people I personally know who still play it. I remember joining their party once. Despite the fact that I hadn't said a word they immediately noticed me and without provocation started insulting me. They insulted my mother, heavily implied that I was homosexual (repeatedly), and would consistently teabag my corpse. And that was when I was on their team. I don't even want to describe the horrors I endured when I was on the enemy team. After that I stopped playing. Forever.

So why do people still play it? Likely lack of intelligence, lack of gaming's experience, or some simply find it enjoyable. That last one tends to be the most bewildering to me, but it's their opinion right? I don't agree with them, but I respect their opinion enough to not belittle them for it.

Heh, the riot shield shows what the biggest actual problem in Modern Warfare 2 is. There's nothing quite like having someone directly in front of you stab you, only to see in kill cam that they were right next to you, not in front.

For extra fun, if you play a game on Vacant or any other map with a lot of indoor sections, take the shield with Scavenger and C4. There's nothing quite as amusing as running around throwing C4 at people. It's even more fun if you take a rocket launcher and Danger Close to be an even bigger jerk. Don't get much of a kill/death ratio, in fact it's a damned good game when you break even or do slightly better, but it is bloody hilarious.

Sense of self-inflation radar is off the fucking charts right here.

Seriously, BBC2 is the same bullshit as MW2 except with a fancy destruction engine.
