This morning, for the 2nd time in the past few months, the police officer that lives on my street has visited my house due to a report of suspicious activity. This has happened a total of 3 times, with the other time involving my dad's brother.

I realize the reason my father is so 'suspicious' is because of his dark skin. He has a very dark Italian skin color that could be mistaken for Middle Eastern, and my uncle's is even darker.

And this get's me thinking; how many times do people with dark skin or Middle Eastern appearance get reported based solely upon their looks? I'm sure it must be a lot, as I feel 3 is a lot of times, considering my dad's not even Middle Eastern.

Anything like this ever happen to you/someone you know/a relative?

You want to hear a funny story?
So we go on this field trip to Six Flags for physics.
My friend Yosef (Palestinian) walks through the gates and security, stands next to a security guard, and starts saying muslim prayers in arabic and english.

My friend Arpiet, a tall, quiet indian kid, walks through the gates and security, gets pulled to the side, and they make him remove his belt while they check him with a metal detecting wand.

I loled hard.

Maybe the next time the cops come your dad can file a racial discrimination complaint or something. I don't know if that is possible but its pretty ridiculous that you live somewhere that skin color gets the cops called. If I were your dad I would sit in the garage with the door open and mess with some electronic equipment. Make sure you have a soldering gun so it looks like he is making bombs or something. Then when the cops are assuredly called you can show the cop he is just fixing a microwave or something.

My best friends dad thinks I am a pedophile... do I know you?

A total of three times? Once is a coincidence. Twice is an anomaly. Three times is definitely some neighbor-hate. Or racism. I'm going for racist neighbor-hate.

thats almost as bad as making a bomb joke at customs. They'll arrest you for it anyway.

Some people are stupid, right next door to me is a Muslim teaching type thing, where the kids go to learn about their Religon. (they might not be Muslim thought, it might be ignorance on my part). I don't mind them, the worst thing is when they take all the car parking spaces:p Also on Ramadan we were given left overs:D

I'm assuming every time said police officer came 'round your dad would say "I'm Italian, you moron. Not Middle Eastern."

Well whoever it is, you can cite it as racial intolerance, and can get them arrested if they screw with your life repeatedly.

BTW what has your dad been doing that could be consider as "suspicious"? It'd be good to know the mindset of the reporter. Might even be able to find them out.

The next time it happens, have him file a harassment suit. Racially-charged or not, unless a crime is actually witnessed, calling the police three times IS harassment.

Sounds like racism. Your neighbour must be a bit daft to 1. not realize that you are Italian and 2. not realize that not every dark-skinned person is a dastardly terrorist. But when you're stupid, there's nothing that can be done.
