Just remember the good times you had with him/her. Its much better than feeling upset about it. Just hang in because its so hard to loose a friend like that. I once saw my dog get run over by a jeep, and i broke down.
Give it time and you should feel better.

Sorry to hear for your loss, it's hard when you lose someone close to you. If you feel up for it, get a scrapbook or a keepsake box and fill it with photos and things to help you remember them. It's really nice to look back on it in a few years and remember the good times.

Remember the good times, rather then swell on the death.
Remember how she lived, not how she died.
That's some sound advise.
I wish everyone would think like that

CONTENT REMOVED BECAUSE I WAS AN IDIOT

OT - Kid, I have no idea how I'd cope if our dog died, he's like my son at the moment (especially with all the fecking fireworks at the moment). I'm truly sorry for your loss. If it makes you feel any better, you only focus on the loss now, eventually you'll get past that and start remembering all the fun you had with her.

I really am sorry for your loss.

When my hamster died I was really messed up. But now I just remember the good times I had with him, you know?

You could try drinking, but that doesn't really help with the sleeping well thing.

There's nothing you can do, though.
Either get used to feeling miserable until it passes, or stop feeling.
Yup.
So something died.
Just get over it. You gain nothing from being sad.
You gain nothing from being a dick to thirteen year olds on the internet but somehow, you continue to do it anyway.

How am I exactly being a dick, explain that to me?
I am stating what I do. It's what I've always done since I was 12. I've had deaths in the family, and I get over them quick. Maybe I am a cruel, heartless, asshole in your eyes but I know what this kid is feeling.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's good to try and remember all the good memories you have of her, though it's really hard to do. I'm sure that your dog had an incredible life (however brief it may have been), and that you gave her lots of love and care. Try to take comfort in the fact that you were able to make her life worth living.
Whenever someone I love dies, I try and celebrate the life they lived, rather than mourning their death. It's difficult at first, but it makes healing so much easier.

OK, a misread on my part. In my defence, the ammount of people saying "get over it" or, in one remarkably reported case, suggesting he eat it in this thread is amazing. He's a fucking thirteen year old who's dog has just died, and all most of us can do take the piss.

I apologise to you though, I was a little too harsh.

EDIT - fixed the quote box. Gonna edit out my attack from my first post too.

My Golden Retriever Rio died yesterday... i really am pretty much breaking down right now. I had her since i was six, she was only 7 years old so yes im not that old or anything. I have really no idea how to deal with it right now... is there any advice anyone can give me? I feel terrible and im not sleeping well.
You need to talk to people that also new your dog. My dog died a few months ago. He was fifteen and had lived a good long life. i got him when he was a pup too. He was my dog. He slept in my room, we went on walks together, he was with me when I met my first girlfriend, and he was the first other living creature I let ride in my car. He was a great friend. However, it was time. I was sad for about a week before a friend stopped and asked why. I told her the problem and we talked for a long time. She knew my dog too.

In the end I just had to find my own way to grieve and let it all out. He used to run the same path every time we let him run in the backyard without a leash. Because of him that exact same path was beaten down and no grass grows on it. He's gone now, which means that eventually grass will grow on his trail. So, I go out back on Sundays and mow down the path he used to walk on so it doesn't disappear. That's how I grieve and how I keep him alive in my mind and heart. You just have to find your own way of doing it.

Nah, Chipperz, it's cool. I used "so someone died" and that changed it for the most part, because people picture saying "so someone died" as something ignorant.

And also, I think the guy who said "eat it" was either trying to cheer the kid up through crude humor, or a mindless goat from 4chan.

There is no advice. You get over it one day, on your own.
My dog died two years ago. I miss the little scamp.

Because losing something you've grown really close to over the years is sooooo easy, mirite?

My dog was diagnosed with cancer, they took some of it out, but I think it's coming back..I dunno if it's in a place where it can be fatal, or if it's in a place where we can get it out within our budget/allow him to live with it..

:(

Yes, actually, it is easy for me. I've trained myself to stand against negative emotions. They just don't come as much as they used to.
