If I had known that the mere act of being able to throw a ball, either long distances or through a hoop slightly bigger than the ball, would let me get away with just about anything, I wouldn't have wasted so much time learning to read and write (really, when will I ever use those skills?) and would have focused all of my energy to playing (American)football and basketball.

Our legal system is just so easy to manipulate, ain't it? "Plead guilty for a lesser charge." Why does that option exist anyway?

Hold on a second... if he is a known rapist, then why is he even still on the team? That whole story is messed up...
He's the star athlete. Anything short of public homicide is something the school will forget about.

Don't worry guys. It's Texas, they're not real people.
they are people prick. just very very stupid people.
Wow, so you quote me, then insult me for being obviously sarcastically condescending to Texas. Then you directly insult them yourself?

Forgive me if I don't understand your goal here...

This is rather sad, to be honest. Poor girl. She obviously deserves better. What the hell is it about the Bible Belt when it comes to common sense, let alone human rights?

However, I'm not going to be pretentious by saying my faith in humanity has been lowered or completely destroyed or something similar.

not the worst "read this its depressing and fucked up" thread ive seen (one involving several children beating an old man to death a block away from his daughter's wedding to impress a girl sticks in my mind)

but still depressing

Waterpolo does that as well, although to a slightly lesser degree. Sadly track and cross country (the sports that I did) they give you nothing, even when you break school records and take your school to the state finals (both of which I ALSO DID).
I guess it's the ball that holds all the power (no pun or double entendre intended). Without it, you're nothing.

Wait what? THIS IS HORRIBLE. what the effing hell is wrong with these idiots. The kid should have been expelled from school. Instead the person he raped is kicked off her team for refusing to cheer for him. This is just wrong.

Texas: Where bigger is better, and sports take higher priority than people.

This is just sick. Why would they even let a rapist on their team, anyway?

On a side note: I honestly want the southwest of the US to secede. Sure, we lose a few great states and cities, but we get rid of California and Texas.

I'm just speechless... I can't believe they told the girl to stay away from the guy so that he doesn't get uncomfortable...

If she had trouble she shouldnt have joined knowing he was on football. 3. ITS THE SCHOOLS FAULT THIS COULD HAPPEN ANYWERE! Geez people come on stop being one minded.

And America will be just perfect without them eh? Enough with the stereotyping and judging of states. If you're gonna judge a state you might as well judge them all.

Sure, this is an article which rightly points out any attempts to stop women coming forward about sexual assaults.

But isn't there something against mentioning the name of the attacker for something he wasn't convicted of? They blanked out her name, why not his?
