Personally, I have to agree with DarthFennec. It makes a lot of sense, and it would be quite heartening if true.

That was a direct insult to me! Zombie Ponies are proud people and we shall not stand for such insults as "Mindless" and "Shuffling". We enjoy the fine delicacies such as .....

What do zombie ponies eat exactly

Nooooooo, My Little Pony is weird and quite funny, at least to me. It makes up a massive change in viewing rather than the curent UK tv schedules of:

Detective Drama
Forensic Detective Drama
Forensic Detective Drama
Detective Drama
Female Detective Drama
Detective Drama
Detective Drama Sequel
Detective Drama Prequel
Disabled Detective Drama
Detective Drama With A Pet

(I dont class Sherlock in that category of dullness because its too fucking good......and weird)
That's the schedules of everything above channel 5. This is the schedule for everything under channel 5

Detective Drama
Detective Drama
Quiz Show
Quiz Show
Quiz Show with an old person
Quiz Show
Quiz Show
Soap
Soap
Quiz Show

Damn British Telly is crap, except for Dave. That channel is awesome, even if all it does is show reruns.

Haven't you people heard of Daybreak!

what do you people watch first thing in the morning?

I think the "son, I am disappoint" dad had been invented just to rate this show.

*sigh*

This show indoctrinates people just as much as every other popular show you come across. Most people just disguise themselves under the veneer of internet nice guy/gal through the community due to it's relative popularity and 'individuality'. Now c'mon guys, stop worrying about silly things like subliminal mind ****ery, sit back and stare at the adorable colourful ponies...there's a good thral- I mean free individual...person...thingy... Jus' remember guys:

Ponies don't discriminate, nor do they indoctrinate.

They annihilate.

...With friendship canons and something utterly bizarre known as a 'glomp'.

I've heard the latter can be crippling.

Well I'm happy enough with it. Not mind control just a fun fandom.
Not obsessed just enjoyable and makes me feel happy and feel warm inside.

Aaand there we go.

This topic is sort of like saying "People who watch Power Rangers are more prone to see robot-dinosaurs as awesome." Of course they are, I didn't think that was a secret?

In a world dominated by cynicism and irony, something genuine, quality, and with the meta irony of "this is good when it shouldn't be" is bound to be appealing. And with that refreshing change, it feels silly to not act in spirit.

It is cute, cuddly, funny, with well developed characters and stories. If we accept this, there will be no end. Harry potter , star wars, jersy shores or whatever, spongebob, and all p0rnos will/are subject to the SAME THING. "Conditioning" is more "unconditioning" to be honest. to cringe at the beginning music because you were taught, be society, that it is girly and you should not like it. Society says girls have cute pink ponies, and men have muscle sweaty guys slapping eachothers arse. I saw something wrong with this to begin with but i was still shown since i was a kid that listening to the MLP theme song will make you gay automatically. Thus you cringe since you know your not and thus should not like the song. But years have shown that even twinkle twinkle little star, when played with a guitar, is manly.
So i do not think that its brainwashing for the good of mankind, but rather sharing a superliminal message that we can all enjoy.

I reject your reality and substitute ponies!

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Personally, I've never had any trouble relating to older people, so I wasn't thinking about it from that perspective. I have, however, run into my fair share of old people that think their experience means they don't have to share that experience with anyone else. It's ok to argue from a personal account you have lived through, but you can't just make whatever point you want and expect everyone else in the room to take it as read that you have relevant experience in the matter just because they're old. Besides, anecdotal evidence has its limits; eventually you're going to want to have scientific research to strengthen your points, even on matters of interpersonal relationships and ethics, where the aged seem to think they are most sage-like. And while experience can be a good educator, it can also lead to bias if that experience isn't quite broad enough.

But to talk about your point, old people are still people, and they have a lot to offer us. Then again, you can hardly fault someone for not being particularly interested in a personal account of world war II any more than I can fault someone for not being interested in the ethical implications of AI technology and the meaning of the self (philosophy major). So it's kind of understandable that lots of people don't find the older generation particularly engaging. They still shouldn't be marginalized and denigrated, but I don't think they deserve the kind of reverence you seem to attribute to them from everyone. They are people, but they're just people. Much like you or me, but more wrinkly.
