MLP is nothing more than a passing fad. You're looking too far into the depths on this one. As we speak, more and more people are caring less about it. Let it die. For the love of Mike Patton, let it just fucking die.
As long as it keeps airing with new episodes it won't die, so not until a long time I presume. There's nothing wrong with it for people to react so negatively too, it can be easily ignored, the community maybe not so much -.-

So, you're saying it's a secret plot to use memetics to turn the denizens 4chan into something that at least bears a passing resemblance of human beings?

Jolly good chaps. Carry on, then.

As an avid brony myself, I can honestly say that the show has made me neither friendlier nor more tolerant. The whole idea of "LOVE AND TOLERANCE!!!!" is really sort of an inside joke for bronies, and it's how we deal with trolls. Basically, whenever someone hates on MLP we just go "That's ok, because we love and tolerate you anyway!" And then the troll gets mad and leaves.

Well, the death won't be immediate. But the few people I know that liked the show (cock punched all of them out of principle) haven't really cared about it lately. It will be a slow, painful death. But the death will happen, and it is already happening as we speak. The "community" (I use the quotes because their community reminds me of NAMBLA) seems to also be less aggressive these days. I think as long as we stop giving them attention, it will die out into cult status and no one with a working libido will give a damn.
What you speak of as the community seems to be the small percentage that really really goes out of their way to show their liking of the show; bludgering people with it constantly.

No, the actual community moreso loves the people that they've been able to get to know because of the show, and is perfectly content with staying within our quarters; I.E: Here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/MLP-Friendship-is-Magic]

Most of us keep to ourselves, getting to know each other and using the show as a basis that we can all come together on.

We're not trying to get everyone to like it or take over the world.

What we're trying to do is make sure that we keep the friends that we've been able to make.

To give the other side of this story: I've been all about love, peace and tolerance for all people since 2005. MLP:FiM had nothing to do with it. Yeah, it's a good message, but I can't believe somebody would genuinely change their views on life based on cartoon ponies. I ended up in the Kingdom of Love as a result of Kurt Vonnegut, studying psychology and meeting Jesus on a train once. Cartoons can't match that, yo, even if they are hilarious.

Sounds suspiciously like Alcoholics Anonymous.
*Shrug*

As I said, we don't care.

We make friends and keep them. :3

I'll admit I've been thinking something similar. That show has an incredible effect on people for what it is. I'd equate it to the way pringles are covered in MSG. Its not really addiction or behaviour altering, but damn its hard to resist.

WELL [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_mentality], I would say it's more of a fad than anything else. It'll pass, slowly but surely. It's already starting. I don't care for it either way, honestly. Some people think too deeply on it, but to each their own. I won't judge someone for living their life. If it makes you happy and doesn't harm anyone, then by all means.

I may just be projecting here, but this is what I think. I think all of these people, this entire section of the internet, have wanted to act this way for a very long time, but they've never had a reason to. Every time someone crops up who is a generally nice person some troll somewhere shoots them down. The internet just isn't the right place for individuals to tolerate others, because to be frank, the act of loving someone mostly requires that they love you back, and trolls don't often do that sort of thing. But then, here comes MLP, a massive standard to gather around for people like this. Suddenly there is an oasis, a beacon if you will, that everybody knows people like this can stand under. We know there's a whole community of people out there who will love and tolerate us back, so it's much easier to act in such a way to others.

Basically, as far as I've seen all the bronies on the internet were already waiting around to love and tolerate everyone, and they've just been waiting for a good excuse to do so. And that's what MLP is.
You know, this is the only post I have ever read (by anyone ever) that somewhat explains to me the reason people are so fanatical about this show. A very interesting take on it and I see your point.

I still can't watch the show though. Not my kind of thing at all, and this is coming from someone who has a Sex And the City box-set.

LMAO!!

I find this hilariously on topic for me since I've been playing Galactic Civ 2 recently, and just for the lulz, I made the ponies as a custom race to compete with.

...And their whole strategy is based on cultural domination (IE, they try to brainwash other civilizations with their culture until they revolt and switch over to their side). XD They've even managed to make a world belonging to an evil soulless robotic race switch to their side.

So far, they've been a decent opponent...And then they declared war on me despite their "Agression" slider bar being set to near zero.... >_> That just felt out of character.

Something Jimbo this way comes! (Don't take this bit too seriously :p)

OT: To be honest I think that the reason us lot just want to be nice to people is because we just want to be nice to people. As someone said above me, the internet provides pretty much no place for people to just be nice to eachother. If you try on 4chan then you get called names and stuff, same with pretty much any other forum. MLP is the only thing on the internet that doesn't encourage hostility and surprisingly actually discourages it. I am really not sure how serious you were with the brainwashing statement but I can safely say that many people who are nice whilst also liking MLP just wanted to be nice before. But couldn't.

Now hold on! I'm a fan, sure, but I'm not obsessed with it! Not all fans are like that either! ...Though maybe the topic is a bit overused, though...

I think you are onto something here....I am not a fan of trolling, so it makes me happy that there are people that don't want that. I think it is awesome that something like My Little Pony can make people act nicer to each other. : )

Nooooooo, My Little Pony is weird and quite funny, at least to me. It makes up a massive change in viewing rather than the curent UK tv schedules of:

Detective Drama
Forensic Detective Drama
Forensic Detective Drama
Detective Drama
Female Detective Drama
Detective Drama
Detective Drama Sequel
Detective Drama Prequel
Disabled Detective Drama
Detective Drama With A Pet

(I dont class Sherlock in that category of dullness because its too fucking good......and weird)

That is a very good post. My thoughts exactly.

I see what you are trying to do. This is another attempt to get me to join this cult isn't it?

Good artwork, good voice acting, engaging stories. Art is mind control and this is art.

I started watching it because I kept hearing people hating on it without seeing it, I KEPT watching it because it because I personally like how rather then them teaching lessons by them all doing something bad and getting punished for it like most children shows, it shows them do something good and get rewarded for it. I like that, I wish we viewed the world as I hope I move forward rather than I hope I don't fall behind.

Also its nice to occasionally see something with out some big action based conflict or intricate hard to follow plot, this makes it a very good thing to watch right before bed.
