It seems to me she has something against the game itself. Maybe her friends who are also mothers told her that the game is bad and if she lets you play she'll look like a bad mom.

OP my suggestion is to get into a serious talk with her and be a man. Tell her how its just a game, and that her reasons for hating it (as shown in your OP) are contradicting and hypocritical. If that doesn't work, I'm sorry to say but there's nothing you can do short of killing her. But I don't suggest that.

Also to all the people in this thread saying "wait 'till you grow up", just shut the fuck up. You were a kid too and this guy may or may not be immature, we'll never know. So stop being a cold reader and 'knowing' whether or not he deserves to play.
Tried that already, with a good four our long conversation about why the game is violent, and what the plot represents, where I did in fact a few times show here that her reasons didn't really apply, followed by her saying she would reconsider and research the game a bit, but she didn't.

Well unless she asked someone at her work, which in that case she probably just got more of the crappy propaganda about how violent games hurt youth, and that the game is the most violent game available, when in reality comparing it to other M games it's not very graphic (the only real exception I can think to this would be where Soap throws the knife into Sheperd's eye), and in reality there are quite a few T games which are just as bad if not worse then mw2.
Okay, so in one of your earlier posts you claim that she believes you're mature enough to play Modern Warfare 2 and it wouldn't affect your behavior, yet she apparently has a problem with the level of violence present in the game? I'm sensing you two have communication problems. You're still confusing 'then' with 'than', by the way.
Sorry about the then and than thing, anyway I think she just has a problem with the game itself or the fact that it's M, not really the violence. I believe the cause for this is most likely misinformation from other parents or adults at her work.
If her concerns are about the game itself, there's been considerable coverage of the game by various news outlets, which might have been the basis for her opinion. Modern Warfare 2 is, after all, quite controversial, particularly for the airport scene and has done extremely well in terms of sales. Seeing as she thinks you're mature enough to handle the game's content, this seems to be the most likely cause. You also mentioned that you told her you've already completed the game and have it saved on to the PS3 hard drive so you can play multiplayer, and she's fine with that. Which means that her problems are probably with the campaign. You haven't mentioned the "No Russian" mission, right?

But as I've said in a previous post, there are a lot of better games out there that don't involve shooting people. Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most overrated games in recent years, and the majority of online players are so insufferable I end up having to mute everyone.
No, she knows about the "No Russian" level and she also stood in the room and watched me press the skip button on that level, so I really don't know what her problem is with it, especially because I already played through the campaign so the game really couldn't damage me anymore then it already has. Also about the last post/paragraph I did play the mp on mw2 and I didn't find that to be a big problem at all.

I just want to reply to part of your comment personally, A. Thanks I won't and didn't shriek every time I got killed in mw2 mp when I had it originally. B. how you described growing what electronics you had growing up, is actually quite similar to mine, so I think I'll just run down on it, my first console was a N64. Though it really wasn't even mine, but my brother's. The first gaming system that was really "mine" was a GameBoy Advance, and even though I got it as a birthday present I ended up paying for half of it's price and all the games I got for it. The next console I got was a used and pretty beat up GC, since it was only like 30 dollars I didn't have to actually pay anything for the console itself but I still had to buy all my games. After that in 2005 I got a PSP that was originally given to my brother for his birthday but he gave it to me when he went to college (I still have it today).

In late 2008 I got a PS2 (which I again had to pay half the $130 price tag regardless of the fact that it was a "present" and had to pay for all my games). At this point I was using my brothers old bedroom as my "gaming room" because it had a T.V. in it (albeit an old one), and was still using the same bedroom I'd been using. I got a new T.V. for that room (it was 30" flat screen HD) as a Christmas present in 2008 but had to pay for half of it, and then one day mid 2009 I came home to find that it was gone. I found out the next day that my brother (who goes to college about an hour from hour house) had taken the T.V. and sold it on Ebay because he was running low on money, and he didn't give my mom or I any money back from selling it.

So as a result of that we ended up getting another new T.V. where I again had to pay half of the price tag. Then I got a PS3 for my 13th birthday last year, but again I had to pay for half of it and all the games I get for it. It would also be worth noting that I still don't have a computer in either my bedroom or the gaming room, and I don't have a T.V. in my bedroom and the T.V. in the gaming room isn't hooked up to cable so I can only play games and watch movies on that one. Also that I have never had allowance and that all the money I have made for games, consoles, computers, etc. has been from manual labor or helping neighbors with computer problems and stuff like that.
Where are you getting all the money to pay for 'half of this' 'half of that'? I save every cent I make religiously (tis' how I got my PS3) and even then, I don't have enough money to pay for half of any of the stuff you've mentioned consecutively. Your story is fishy. Though, I still "support" your "cause".

As I said in the post, I made the money helping people with computer problems and doing manual labor. More specifically I helped people remove viruses, get their windows settings how they wanted them, helping people set up their wireless network etc. as for manual labor it would usually be mowing lawns, raking leaves, or every once in a while doing a bit of landscaping (placing bricks, and rocks, making garden areas etc.).

Also, if it still seems a bit fishy, just know that the development where I live is very large and has a bewildering large amount of people that have no idea how to even set up a paypal account, even less so that have any idea what an ip is.

She could still be concerned that you might play it when she's not looking. I can't see any other reason why she wouldn't let you play the game, judging from the information you've given us. And compared to most online games I've played, Modern Warfare 2 has a truly horrid community.

Haha my parents let play DooM when I was only 2 or 3. LOLZ
Look how that turned out!
It helps me PWN in FPSs.

Well... Look how that turned out!
Must resist urge to kill....
I believe you have misinterpreted me. You stated that you were playing Doom at the tender age of 2/3 & used incredibly bad grammer & a LOLZ at the end to do so. To which I replied "look how that turned out!" This was not meant as a complement.

With an equally childish gamer attitude you replied with "It Helps me PWN in FPSs". Again my response was nowhere near the same category of complimentary.

I personally think children playing age rated games is nothing short of negligence & TERRIBLE parenting. Having spoken to a mother of a child of 8 who's game library consisted of COD MW2 GTA4 Killzone & other "Mature" rated games It bewilders me how no one can see this as poor parenting. Of course the mother said "oh, but they are only games".

These are kind of parents that start shrieking that the police are picking on their children when they are older for getting caught nicking things from shops or getting themselves in trouble constantly

Now I'm not suggesting you are a criminal in the making but Parents need to take responsibility & stop under age kids or teens from playing games that are not suitable for them, they are age rstricted for reasons. The OP's mother is doing the right thing as far as I am concerned & bloody good for her. I also believe that he is fabricating parts of the story so he sounds better.

Well, WOW o_O. You should be a therapist. The fact is, I turned out anything other than violent. I actually changed schools because of that. I was picked on, and I didn't wan't to fight back. Well, that has changed, but not because of video-games. Still, I respect your opinion and my posts were a joke. True, but still a joke.
