If this was the age of Gamecube or before, Xbox games not included, I would agree with you. However, in this day and age we have this thing called Online Multiplayer. And the most annoying thing about online multiplayer is, you guessed it, annoying whiny 13 year old brats. You may think you aren't one now. But in about 4-5 years, you'll be playing with the 9 year olds of today and be sorry for those that you subjected to grinding ear-rappage with your pre-pubescent voice and sense of humour.

That's my only problem with this. You may say you won't play online, or only with friends. But inevitably you'll end up in the main servers. Inevitably, someone will say something that you disagree with and you will speak. And once a child in your age group speaks, it does not stop.

So remember: You won't destroy your own sanity; you'll destroy someone else's.
Trust me I hear my fair share of 10-year-olds that won't stop talking on Uncharted 2 mp. My voice started lowering when I was 11, it doesn't even crack anymore, and in general I'm not a very talkative person (and I don't even have headset to hook up to the ps3 as an added reason for why your comment doesn't really apply).

Maybe, if you learn how to use punctuation, your Mom will realize that you are Mature enough to play Modern Warfare.

Tell her you're writing a report on World War 2 for history class and need to play Modern Warfare 2 as research.

Wait, why is she complaining about video games and not working in the kitchen. I kid, I kid.

In all seriousness, ANY study that says all gamers are violent because of violent video games are piles basically. I mean, I don't remember being part of the study, and neither does 99% of the gaming population.

I listen to Green Day.
I'm sorry, but that made me laugh really hard.

Try Waking the Cadaver. It has a bit more of the "mature" theme you're looking for and less of the "political".

Note: I'm not bashing your music tastes, I love Green Day. I'm just saying that saying Green Day is mature is like watching "Monster House" and saying its a horror film.
Ok I listen to the Sex pistols and say fuck allot. lol THERE. HAHA
I get that your joking but nothing you said has given me any reason to think your mature...or even 20.

I shall say only one thing about this. What you think and what is fact are two different things. Fact is I am 20. Fact is you don't know me just like I don't know you. Also weather you believe me or not is your choice just like it is mine to not care what you think. So I will leave you to your fictitious assumption and be on my way. Good day.

Holy cow, there is a lot of replies here XD. I had my first CoD around that age I belive, BF 1942 too. I'm still not insane, never killed someone, nor started any fights (only defended myself...). But your mother's reaction is completely normal, most have been there ;)

Btw, for the next time, some spacing? =)

Yeah dude, get used to it your 13 not 17. I ran into the same problem when I was young. All I could do was wait patiently then go batshit crazy buying every M rated game I wanted since I was a kid. Go do something nice for your mom and she may buy you a m rated game, I did that and it worked for me.

For the last time, my grammar is horrible in the first post because it was 12:55 am and I was in a hurry, and I really just don't feel like fixing it.

Your mom is being a little bit unreasonable. BUT, you should get her to get you better games. Like Demon's Souls.
Brilliant idea. Demon's Souls will teach him how to deal with punishment and show him there are better games to obsess over. Demon's Souls is win.

Why do we give a damn what you're IQ is?
You're 13. If she said no, then it's a no.
Complaining about it will only make you look more immature.
That's true. Making excuses just makes you look less mature.

God I know what you mean. I'm almost 21 and my mother thinks I don't need to play games like L4D2 (because zombies are "ewwwie") and that she thinks I have issues because most of the games on my xmas list were games like that. Anyway to the point sadly there isn't much you can do. I'm not saying you don't have any right to be mad but it also shows how much she pays attention and cares. Granted it's almost too much but M are M for a reason, me saying this not knowing you I'm just going by you're age. If you're mom won't see you're point you're kinda dead locked and stuck. What I do is use Steam because I have my own laptop and money so she'll never know but I'm still missing out on allot of games until she sees I'm 20 not 10. Anyway back to the point. you're still 13 not 17. Ratings, as dumb as some may see them, have a point. If you were my age with the same issue then I'd see you're point better but all I can say is wait. The games will still be on game stop as used games by then and much cheaper.
...You're 20 and your Mom is telling you what games to play. Why does she still have that control over you?
No she thinks she does. I just get the game anyway and it pisses her off.
I think you may have missed my point. Where are you that she even thinks she has that control?
