In her defense, you're not at the age you should be allowed to play those types of rated games let alone understand them. I mean congrats that you're mature enough to understand them and the difference between a game and reality, but as it stands.. you really don't have much of a leg to stand on. Wait two years and try again is my advice.
hell, even waiting ONE year might work... for some reason, anything with the number 'four' in it is just a sweet spot of awesome.

EDIT: uhm, OOPS...

I listen to Green Day.
I'm sorry, but that made me laugh really hard.

Try Waking the Cadaver. It has a bit more of the "mature" theme you're looking for and less of the "political".

Note: I'm not bashing your music tastes, I love Green Day. I'm just saying that saying Green Day is mature is like watching "Monster House" and saying its a horror film.

Oh trust me I'm buying L4D soon as well as Mass Effect. Ive already got Dragon Age, SR2 and No More Heroes from under her nose. I'm figuring out how to tell her off and that I'm 20 now and not into Pokemon snap anymore. I don't care what she says I'm old enough to play them. I've had sex, I've seen porn and I listen to Green Day. I'm not messed up so I just do that shit behind her back and she doesn't care.
that bolded part is exactly what you should tell her :p.

In all honesty, you should just tell her how you feel about it.
"look mom, I'm 20, almost 21 and I'm old enough to be playing games that aren't made with just kids in mind [list a few 'mature' things she lets you do/have]. With that in mind, I think you're being unreasonable about this whole subject."

You don't have to do this exactly, but just a little bit of advice from someone on the internet (because we all have so much credibility).

God I know what you mean. I'm almost 21 and my mother thinks I don't need to play games like L4D2 (because zombies are "ewwwie") and that she thinks I have issues because most of the games on my xmas list were games like that. Anyway to the point sadly there isn't much you can do. I'm not saying you don't have any right to be mad but it also shows how much she pays attention and cares. Granted it's almost too much but M are M for a reason, me saying this not knowing you I'm just going by you're age. If you're mom won't see you're point you're kinda dead locked and stuck. What I do is use Steam because I have my own laptop and money so she'll never know but I'm still missing out on allot of games until she sees I'm 20 not 10. Anyway back to the point. you're still 13 not 17. Ratings, as dumb as some may see them, have a point. If you were my age with the same issue then I'd see you're point better but all I can say is wait. The games will still be on game stop as used games by then and much cheaper.
If you're 20, your mother shouldn't have any say in what you should be buying, regardless of what she preceives you as. ESPECIALLY if you have your own source of income. You're an adult and the law says you can buy an M rated game, hell, even an AO rated game if you so chose, there really isn't anything your mother can do about it, you paid for it, you're old enough to legally have it, she can shut face about it.
(My apologies if that sounded a bit too...blunt.)

If you're 20, and living at your parents' home, and they don't want certain games in their house, then maybe it's a good idea to respect their wishes, even if you disagree. Plus, if you're that old and living at home, I suspect you can find ways to get access to any game you want without making a big deal out of it with your folks.

No no this is a good idea. I can show here I've been playing Dragon age and I'm fine. I've been left alone for 2 weeks before and did fine before I was 20. So I'll try that.

You're 13. You shouldn't be playing M-rated games. What she did was right as a parent.

Wait until you're 17, then you can play.
I agree she didnt do anything wrong. she is the parent after all

though I do wish a few more parents would do this so I dont have to listen to 13 year olds on MW2

If your mom won't let you play, she'll never listen to you. Parents tend to think "I know better than my child just because I do" so good luck

M is for Mature, not adult. If he can tell its not real and won't try to reinact the game in real life then he should be able to play. I've played M games since I was 6, yet I'm one of the least violent people I know
If you can't buy it without your parent's consent, and the parent says you can't play it, you shouldn't be playing it. Period.

Clearly you are not mature enough to play these violent video games because your not even old enough to understand internet safety. You shouldn't give away personal information. Until you can understand that your mom is completely right.

Don't try to convince me that you have a high IQ until you start capitalizing words and using punctuation properly.

I was playing M rated games when I was younger, but your mum does have the right to take them away. She just shouldn't be allowed to get away with not explaining why. If you have online play, then maybe she had the right idea, because there's nothing on this planet worse than a 13 year old boy in an MW2 game. Seriously.

That line about it ruining your social life because they all play and you don't never works, never has worked, and never will work. If your friends won't talk to you because you don't play a game, they're jerks, and no mom wants their kid hanging out with jerks.

That's really all I have to add. Relax and be patient. Keep getting good grades, and ask before you buy an M-rated game.

And you bought this game with your 'own money'? where does a thirteen year old get their 'own money'?

Ratings are guidelines for parents. His parent is abiding by the guidelines. She is doing the right thing. When he is 17, she will let him play. She is one of the few parents who actually follows the ratings and uses them for what they're there for.
A parent may have the right to shield there kid from everything until they are an adult but doing so makes said parent (pardon my vocabulary) a crazy ***** in my opinion.
