I have my mom as friends on Facebook and a few of my friends parents and nothing and has come out of it yet. Most of them actually say worse stuff to us (in a joking manner but still) than we do to each other...

I have added my mum on Facebook then again i don't live with her so Im always up to ringing her or talk and have a friendly discussion.

I discover that mum's are better if you get out of their hair when your a young age.

Just add her but limit what she can see. There's no use arguing with a parent, they will always think they're right because they're older.

So much lack of grammar on the first page. Capitalise, people! Oh, and your mum is stupid.

Ok. THIS is why I don't have a Facebook account any more. That South Park episode was right. To be honest I wouldn't want my mother reading what I post on The Escapist when I've had a bit to drink (never drink and internet kids) or when one of those weird, and sort of gross, threads turn up.

I'd suggest giving it a day, and then sitting down with her and talking about what's going on. What are you being punished for? Why does she feel so bad that she feels you deserve to be disciplined for your actions? Also why didn't you add her on Facebook, and what harm would it do to just do that?

your mother is apparently an internet addict if she values those things so high.
Tell her that she lost her mind if she thinks Facebook(some random website) > reality.
it's not even slightly a mirror of reality, if you look closely.

Or...do as she says as long as you dont have another option. >_>

Just restrict their access to you on facebook, i have it set up so that none of my relatives can see anything on my facebook. But they still are my friend on facebook.

Parents need to understand that kids present themselves differently around friends than family. This is to be expected, and is honestly quite healthy- everyone, regardless of age, needs an outlet. Facebook is a tool largely for interacting with friends, so she should realize that you might want to have some privacy from her if you're going to be chatting with them there.

This is why you don't let your parents know you have a Facebook account in the first place.

Really, it's a small gesture to make.

I don't know why you would want to have your private life on the internet(surely that takes all the fun and risk out of it?). But if you must, just make another profile or something...

The day you realise your parents are human(and as such are prone to being illogical and insecure)and start treating them as such, is the day you do a shit load of growing up.

Facebook is stupid anyway, just go see your friends...it's better.

Mwahahaha! All I can think about is South Park. "Stanley grandma says she poked you and you haven't sent a poke back!" "Dad I don't have..." "Stan poke your grandma!"

I'm still dreading the day my dad finds my Twitter. But he's too busy playing World Of Warcraft to check for it.
So yeah, your mum is an idiot. It's the internet, the whole point of it is free speech.
