Maybe nowadays. But it's thanks to my mom that I not only got INTO gaming, but that I'm as good as I am now. Then again, this is the woman that agreed to play Halo: Reach with me all the way through, but only if we listened to my Cryonic Temple: In Thy Power cd.

How could she possibly think that the song is demonic?
This. It is a relatively dark sounding song...but consindering the translation of the lyrics, its about as 'demonic' as My Little Poni-

Hmmm...nevermind then.
The lyrics are about begging a being named after the spheres on the tree of life in mystic sorcery not to kill you in the form of a operatic prayer, denoting the evil and hatred of said being.

That's actually bang on the definition of demonic, believe it or not.

All I have to say, is I'm glad I never had problems like this.
My mother's recently been encouraging (semi-seriously) me to drink more and have something pierced...

Yeah...

Because of "evil" music I've been called a heathen, satanist, nazi and communist.
All by my parents or grandparents.
Yeah know that feeling, I particularly love how communist is an all encompassing term for evil. You gotta love MCartheyism.

In regards to a piece of music being demonic, firstly, please tell anyone who says this to get a grip and then go into great detail about how through the course of history most forms of new music has been considered "Demonic" from the violin to rock music.

As with any altercation just smile at her and nod and then carry on doing what you please, no point arguing.

EDIT: Lazruth, you sir, have one cool mother, congratulations :D

My mum loves the Black Mages music and she's a christian. Your mum sounds a little bit wierd.

I got mistakenly called a 'goth' by my Uncle because I was wearing dark eyeliner and I happen to have black hair...At the time I was wearing a turquoise shirt and white linen pants :/

I told him that you aren't a real Goth until you sack Rome :D

i find this all very weird, i always thought of one winged angel as sounding very angelic.
you should just tell her that it was an orchestral reimagining of gregorian christina hyms or something like that

Wasn't it ,kind of, the point of the song? It makes Sephiroth looks like a threat that needs to be stopped.

Tell her that there's worst things in the world.

Hurting her spirit? Has your mum been curbstomped recently? Anyway aside from a couple of pranks on my dad involving the Silent Hill soundtrack, my parents generally don't have problems with video game music aside from one time when the Star Ocean: Til the End of Time soundtrack lead to my mum vomiting blood in response to some harpy screeching in early cinematics.

Bit A lot more than a slight overreaction there. It reminded my mum of the film "The Omen" when she came in while I was fighting him but nothing else was made of it.

A song that I'm pretty sure always put my parents on-edge. They never said anything, but I'm certain it put them on-edge. Jesus Saves by Slayer.
And I remember this one time, when I was washing my parent's cars for money and listening to this song, my mother walked in and asked "What are you listening to? Is it a song about sex?" I was listening to L70ETC's Rogues Do It From Behind. Good times.

But I digress, your mother does seem a tad...off... I suppose is the word I'm looking for here. I'd suggest going with any number of the sane, rational posts here. Ones like invest in Headphones or try to rationalize. If done properly, rationalizing usually works out the best for everyone involved.

Uhm, to be pretty fair, it is intended to be the theme music of an unjust god. So yeah, it is demonic, that's the point.

Also, ignore the crap metal people have reccomended. Put on SikTh and see what she thinks.

If his/her mum is so sensitive and childish that they can't listen to a snippet of music without labeling it as "demonic", then that's not OP's problem.

Don't let your parents push you around when it comes to stuff like this, listen to the music you enjoy, not the music they want you to listen to.

...Your mum sounds crazy, I'm sorry to say it.

I see where she comes from, One Winged Angel does slightly sound demonic, but to say it hurting her spirit.......I think she may be smoking weed.

That all being said

Do this, you can still listen, and she can't hear a thing.
This.

There's really nothing to add on to any of that.
