Lollipop Chainsaw... The No Fear Of Heights Trocheivement...

So far, that situation, alone, has been THE pinnacle of all my rage quits... The amount of luck you would need to obtain that particular trophy was so BS that it has been over a year since I have touched that particular game...

And I was having so much fun back then... and, at the time, I was one trophy away from platinuming it...

Almost a complete waste of time at this point...
Don't you threat, young me... You'll get over it in due time...

As for me, personally, there are few smaller moments of rage-quitting that could basically be translated into "fuck it, I'm done with this [bull]shit":

-Jak 2
Back when I was first trying out Hero Mode...
-Jak 3
All the turrent-based missions as well as Hero Mode...
-Kingdom Hearts
SEPHIROTH!!
-Kingdom Hearts 2
Two words... Jiminy's Journal...
-Sonic 06
Self-explanatory... But, more-so during the Final Episode... (Have video on YouTube to prove it, I think...)

Other that that, there was one moment where I was playing Star Fox: Assault multiplayer with my best friend and cousins and, when it was down to just me and my best friend in a "Sniper-off", I got so mad that it was taking too long to kill each other that I restarted the GameCube, stormed out of the room, and went to the bathroom to take good, hard piss...

And that's why I don't like playing as The Sniper...

Sephiroth in the Kingdom Hearts games was a royal pain in the ass, and handed it to me a bunch of times. I didn't actually beat Seph in the first game until I replayed it.

Of all the games to ragequit with me it was Earthworm Jim. That bloody first boss, the tyre guy...he couldnt kill me but i couldnt kill him, i tried hitting him every way possible but he just kept doing that bodybuilding pose and not being damaged and (this was in the days before the internet was a big thing) every guide i could find in every magazine seemed to assume he was so easy that there was no need to give a guide to beating him. To this day i dont know what i was doing wrong...

Seriously, i've been gaming since the 80's, beat uncounted games but that fucking Megadrive game beat me :(

I think MG Rising is the only game in recent history that I've rage quit. I played on normal and found the entire experience frustrating mostly due to horrible controls. It had some great moments but the boss with the detachable limbs was annoying as hell and once you had to go through the who Mega Man-esque rematch of previous bosses I just laughed and took the game right to gamestop.

My nephew has been crowing about how "beast" he is at Metal Gear Rising (kids these days don't know their adjectives), so half an hour ago I made him bump up the difficulty to Normal. Half an hour later, he quits out of frustration because he can't figure out how to parry. (Easy Mode gives you an automated parry.)

Now, it would be wrong of me not to feel some small amount of guilt over getting him so riled up, but at the same time, my heart swells with the hope that next time he plays this game, he'll actually pay attention to what the game is telling him and learn some of its nuances.

Other rage-quit stories? Your own or those of people you know? I know those of you in the FGC have a few salty stories to tell. Come on, let's open up our collective gaming wounds, shall we?
I rage quit on a girlfriend after she told me she wanted a baby after 3 weeks of dating. Not that she wanted a baby down the line, but that she wanted a baby RIGHT THEN. Yeah, that was a silent rage quit.

I was playing the PS3 version of Bayonetta a while ago, and was replaying the 1st chapter ("Vigrid, City of Angels") with an accessory that makes enemies attack faster and hit harder (I think it was called the "Gaze of Despair"), but also gave you more combo points (I was trying to improve my medal rankings). I played through somewhat competently with the Gaze of Despair equipped, then I got to the final Verse of the chapter where you had to fight a Beloved (one of the giant, Axe-wielding angels) while it scrambles for grip on a crumbling platform. So I'm fighting rather well, dodging the Beloved's attacks and damaging it, when suddenly:

"THE WITCH HUNTS ARE OVER"

I had somehow gotten a game over. And I don't know why. I had a lot of health (enough normal health for a 2nd bar, and it was extended by a blue witch heart) and hadn't taken any damage when I had gotten the game over, and I'm pretty sure I hadn't fallen over the edge of the platform.

I didn't touch the game for a solid WEEK after that.......

Demon's Souls was one of the first games in a long time since the NES era to make me ragequit... Admittedly it was mostly because I wasn't fully comfortable with the control scheme in the beginning and had a bad habit of button mashing which usually led to my cliff-walking doom in heated fights.
Hearthstone is also close to doing that to me, mostly because I've not put money into that game and am suffering from the free-to-play nature of getting ass-handed on every level of said game.
Maneaters actually made me ragequit that game forever. I've completed Souls 1 and 2 repeatedly since then but back in the day when I first got my hands on DS I tried a light dex build which is NO GOOD against Flamelurker and Maneaters. I beat flamelurker (after much anger and madness) but Maneaters was a bridge too far.

As long as I don't miss 2 70% shots and a 90% shot and he doesn't crit me in hard cover, I should win this easily. *miss**miss**miss**crit*

Fuck you XCOM.
Ah but you will only know true rage when you miss a 99% chance when it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that you hit.

Actually that's not true the angriest I have ever been with that game was when I fought a sectopod that glitch teleported into the air above all of my troops and shot everybody. Because of course I should have to bend my plans around flying bulls**t alien robots while fighting 2 groups of heavy armored floaters who saw me through solid walls.

Holy fuck... Easy mode? Jesus.

Battlefield 3 is mine. I just couldn't stand one sided battles because of the unbalanced air to ground combat. Medics also made me mad for the simple reason that they can undo all your kills in absolutely no time, even if you killed someone by stabbing them, shooting them, shooting them with an AP round from a fucking tank, shooting them with a motherfucking exploding 37mm round designed to take down planes. It's all for nought, because the defibrillators are infused with the power of Christ apparently.

Look, it's XCOM. The percentages are just there to make you think you have a chance; the game is designed to string you along and then screw you over as hard as possible.

Seriously, I think it's actually in the game's code somewhere.

The only game that made me rage-quit is Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.
I really like the franchise, but that game went beyond brutal into pure sadism. I am nowhere near masochistic enough to go back to it.
You guys can probably guess which boss ended my run.

Original X-COM: Stepped off the plane with a small squad, it was a small crashed UFO on turn 1, and right off the bat alien sniped my main guy... one shotted him. Best dude on the squad at the time. Pulled the rest of the squad out to take snap shots, 2 missed and one hit but sectoid took that shot like a frickin hero. Alien turn, one good lob of an alien grenade and my whole frickin' squad went down.

X-COM Terror From the Deep: So many moments where my squads had superior firepower, armor and the like and I'd still get raped by the RNG and apparently there isn't such a thing as an alien B-squad, they're all elites. Fuckers.

I feel your pain, but be thankful that the newer XCOM isn't as bad as the old ones. I swear it was like playing D&D with the biggest asshole of a DM who would never miss his behind-the-screen rolls somehow... Nobody rolls 3 natural 20's in a row consistently...

But I keep going back.

GET OUT OF HERE...STALKER. XD

Anyway, Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat?

I remember my first playthrough of Shadow of Chernobyl on Master difficulty. The first 3-4 hours were pure drama.

I have been (sort of) rage quitting World of Tanks lately, because damage to an undersea cable has raised my ping from ~70 to ~240.

I ragequit Demon's Souls after the first boss the first time I tried it, because it knocked my progress (I'd spent about ten hours on the game so far) back to almost zero after I died very, very cheaply thanks to the stupid dragon on the bridge.

Luckily, I gave it another shot months later, played smarter that time, and ended up turning into a huge Souls fan who bought Dark I/II at launch and absolutely loves them.

I think I have had a very mild rage quit. It was in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. I was kicking arse finally getting a hang of shooting but I liked to play as the character with the armour. Then the game forces me to play as the other character. I quit. Have never played it since

I rage quit the first time I played Haunting ground when that cow Daniella was chasing me. She moved far quicker than Debilitas, especially when she acquired the poker. I still went back to it though when I calmed down and finished the game. I actually found it quite enjoyable, and a very good story.
