I like the way you think and act. I've been working in filming and publicity for almost four years, an industry known for making quite some money but also for wasting absurd ammounts of it on everyday stuff.
Example: What?! are you using X stuff to clean that light/monitor/case/grip/cable etc? You have to use Z stuff, it's reccomended by this or that company!... and it costs five times more despite being the same stuff you use to clean your car's windshield (probably water and very little liquid soap). And the "Pro" filming/audio recording gear (not the cameras or any useful apparatus). Eg: $20 a-meter cables or "special" pencils for marking stuff on tapes, nothing a cheap-ass pen can't do, but people feel it's ok to pay exorbitant prices for them because thay feel better when using them, "because they are pros".

So, the same applies to editing rigs, people who use Windows or Linux PC's and for example the Adobe Video Editing bundle or about any Audio-editing software KNOW they work just as well as Mac's Final Cut and whatever they sell for audio, if not better. Despite this, Apple sells ginormous ammounts of Macs to Video and Sound editors. Some claim they can handle files better and that they work better overall. Bullshit, Macs have the same problems as PCs and break down like any other computer, and when they do, stuff gets messy.
Want this thing fixed? That's going to be a lot more! Despite Mac's being the same as PCs inside.
I say people are just oblivious about what's inside a Mac and that all PCs can run OSX at just a fraction of the price of a Mac, they just want things now and don't want to know about problems, money solves that, aslo, some like them just for the "prestige" apple products carry (I like the Ipod classic, I'm not gonna lie, miss you buddy :( ).
Back to the show, if you get the money a top Video-editing iMac costs and buy a PC you would get a PC that would blow all iMacs out of the water. Mac Pros just seem a bit ridiculous to me, they look fantastic, but I just cannot think what could make me throw $5000 on an overpriced PC, the hardware and software architecture is still limiting it's power like on any other PC, they are just way too much. I'm looking at the Pro's site right now, it laughable. The description they make on how easy to access the interior of the Mac is is just hilarious. "...No rat?s nest of components here. You don?t need to turn the system on its side or struggle to reach into awkward spaces to make changes. Just remove the side panel for instant access to everything..." So, just about the same as my PC, I have never had to go to a circus for getting someone with extra felxibility to help me with it's maintenance. And you don't need to turn the Pro on it's side because you won't be messing with the machine, let the guys at the store take care of that...

Every computer-savvy person I know knows about this mac scam and wouldn't get a mac no-matter-what. Macs are just a brand, they cost more without being better in general, that's it.

OP, you do realize you have managed to derail your own thread, right?

And how about respecting people's personal preferences?
I mean, seriously. This is a thinly veiled hate thread.
You're a very nice girl, but you see there isn't even a veil here. All the same though even if he's doing it for the wrong reasons, he is helping people save money. But I admittedly share his views so I have a bias. You wouldn't happen to own a mac by any chance would you?

I have seen someone look at buying the laptop, look at the screen, laugh, put down his purchases and leave the store laughing.
Yo Mr. Numbers, don't let it go to your head now but I approve of your hobby, I have tried to convince my cousin Micheal of these points. It's a shameful waste of money that could go towards other, better things. Apple has enough cash on hand.

Well, did the sign say "calories (kcal)" or "Calories (kcal)"?

Because Calories with a capital 'C' means one thousand calories, or kcals. Calories are indeed measured in kcals, so if the sign had a capital 'C', then it was actually correct.
Well it says "kaloreita", which is finnish for calories. There's no difference in finnish like there's in english. Besides, the uppercase/lowercase C thing is stupid anyway.

Also, calories (or Calories) aren't measured with anything. They're units of measurement for energy.

I'm just surprised that you can even GET 32GB of RAM (though for $3700 extra you can get many things).

I don't get why you'd want to even go in an Apple store, they freak me out.

My hobby is trying to get the collision on Minecraft's mine carts to not fuck up. It is not a hobby I enjoy.

What you really mean here is 'I am offended. OP should not have posted this thread because I am offended.'

Hates a strong word for something like this. Besides, everything on his image is unarguably true and if there is anyone out there who heeds his advice and stays away from buying a Mac, then he has saved them from being ripped off.

Not only is this not how to conduct yourself on the Escapist, but I bet I could find fifty threads in which everything that has been said here has before been posted.
Repeating things is not good discussion.
You'd be hard pressed to find a forum on the internet that doesn't have repeating threads. Especially on the Escapist. You've been here a few years so you obviously must know this by now.

I'd say Macs are probably better than HP.

I did something similar once. I went on google and typed things like "why is my mac", "mac is", or "why does my mac" and left the search suggestions to speak for themselves, and walked out with a row of their computers like that. Another time some guy left his facebook signed in there...

I guess going into a store solely to drive away their customers could be seen as pretty immature and dickish, but I don't have any sympathy for apple or big corporations, so troll away.

Does it really matter if people want to buy a Mac?
Seriously, I don't use Macs, I don't have a want to, but it seems like you're just trolling for no good reason.

I'm on a hunt for a few fun android games. Don't suppose you'd like to share what company you work for or what games you've made?

He stated petty revenge for his reasoning. Petty revenge is a pretty good reason.

OT: No, no hobbies that are interesting. But you're one is awesome.

Wow, i just realised My PC is $2,100 cheaper than a MAC( my PC is more or less top of the line nowadays, build it in 2006 and only cost 800), and i thought a MAC was more powerful. My Dad said we should get a MAc, and hack it and install windows, but looks like i should stay with my 5 year old PC.
Surprisingly, it runs most Tripls A games at ,medium to maximum at 40-50 FPS.

anyway, my un-usual hobby is Trucks(or lorries)
i dont know why! i just love the sound of the rumbling diesel V8, the tall cabs, and the sexy rev of the engine....
I need help...

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with Acers?
I'm actually running one right now.
They're expensive and pretty sure...But they break so easily. They age incredibly rapidly, are awful to fix, have amazingly rare unique problems, are AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL to fix.

If a standard PC takes 15 minutes to diagnose and start to repair (Which is about right)

Acers can take anywhere between 1 and 2 hours to 6 hours, to a day. They're very very special.

We have to break out the soldering iron for more Acer laptops than any other brand.
True, my brother got pissed off at his acer and bought an aleinware gaming laptop, and gave me the acer.
i sold it for 100 euros and bought an airostf pistol to go with my rifle:p

Why do you even still go into apple stores?

And for unusual hobbies I can't think of anything except that I hate people giving rounds whenn going out, because I'll have to return the favour, and that shit's expensive.
One opened across the road from my office (We do smartphone games) and kept leafleting the hell out of us...After informing them: We release on Android first cause you guys suck so much at letting developers onto the platform, they started raging us.

So, simple petty revenge is your answer.
That's the best kind of revenge!

How... immature. I mean they're legitimately overpriced, I'm not going to argue with that, but they do have many positive aspects which people enjoy. I personally love the operating system because of its simplicity and consistency. A powerful modded PC could be both cheaper and far more useful, but you buy macs for the user-friendly design of the hardware and software. Are they worth it? No, but many people have dispensable cash and prefer this sort of computer. It's also nice that it doesn't take much effort to get up and reading and personalise the settings. You're paying for the design, the hardware AND the operating system. What you're doing is a scare tactic with the intention of giving a false impression of macs for others for your own elitist purposes.

I on the other hand love making penis jokes.

Approval!

Although not a 'hobby' as such, I've uploaded Ricky Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" onto a fair few demo media player setlists >.>

Pretty much find myself agreeing with this post. I like my Mac for general use, but can use windows for strategy games if I feel the need. I suppose if someone were so inclined they could highlight the myriad of faults that PCs have associated with them by doing something similar in PC world. Blue screens of death, random crashing, windows in general, in fact I had an anti-virus that once tried to remove windows from my machine.

In short, Mac V PC is an argument on par with Xbox 360 V PS3, tired, overdone, and generally boring.
