My Rant at IGN's Final Fantasy Rant

1) Most of the things we enjoy today are highly unoriginal. If you want to be pedantic then Yahtzee ripped off Charlie Brooker, AVGN ripped off i-rate gamer and the nostalgia critic, and Unskippable ripped of MST3K.

I just want to point out that the AVGN came before Irate Gamer, and seriously, what's the comparison between him and The Nostalgia Critic? "They both get angry at stuff?" Does that mean Linkara is a ripoff of The Nostalgia Critic?

On-topic, I hated the video. Not because it insulted me, but it was not funny, not accurate, and the guy was way too pretentious.

I have to say after having seen the video I agree the guy makes me want to go over to his house say to him it made me cry then kick his ass and make him watch Advent Children in full with the recap of FF7.

But then again you have too look at that this is point of the video really and he is just trolling for laughs so I'll ignore him.

Hello it is IGN we are talking about here. Stupid BS like that vid is what the new IGN is all about. Anything to bring in those hits. And what better way to keep the flames acomin than to insult FF? I mean they already did the whole "Trophies are better than Achievements" article. Insulting FF is the next logical step.

Things wrong with this video:

1. He's wearing a tuxedo t-shirt
2. The characters of X reappeared in X-2. FFIV had an episodic sequel. FFVII has had both a movie and a fair few games continue on after it's events.
3. FFXIII doesn't have turn-based battles.
4. So games just shouldn't tell stories? If that was the case, we'd still be playing Breakout, that had no plot.
5. FF games have had voice acting since X so you don't have to read, because reading is so nerdy of course.
6. Wow, a jockish homophobic rant in the middle of the video.
7. Misogyny.
8. Referring to the entire of Afghanastan as terrorists.

I love Final Fantasy, and I love jokes and spoofs at its expense, but this video wasn't funny because, unlike Yahtzee, this guy didn't make any critical or unique points, as has been said.

He just pretty much rehashed the whole JRPG 'dude-looks-like-a-lady' joke and relied most on crude sexual allusions and copious amounts of swearing. The only time it got close to amusing was when he made fun of FF fans for crying during FFVII, and that was funny because it's true. Final Fantasy VII does weird things to people--myself included

I think that IGN should just stick to covering the games. If I want a review of a big game or coverage from E3 I go to IGN, if I want humor or intelligent commentary I go to the escapist. IGN has been doing way too much "deep analysis" of the games industry and they have very few editors with the ability to do that. Although some of the articles are good such as the ones written by Matt cassimassina or greg miller most are poorly wriiten and unitelligent.

OT: I thought this was actually rather funny and believe he is trying to be a douche as he is more of an actor than an editor (he doesn't actually review games at all)
