I don't think it ironic parody of FF-haters. Or if it was supposed to be, he failed to hint the irony. It was definitely trolling though. Perhaps just spouting stupid opinions he doesn't believe in one bit, or then exaggerating them to annoy or to be funny.

Surprisingly few trolls in this thread, though the few people saying that this guy is absolutely right are amusing enough.

1) Most of the things we enjoy today are highly unoriginal. If you want to be pedantic then Yahtzee ripped off Charlie Brooker, AVGN ripped off i-rate gamer and the nostalgia critic, and Unskippable ripped of MST3K.

I just want to point out that the AVGN came before Irate Gamer, and seriously, what's the comparison between him and The Nostalgia Critic? "They both get angry at stuff?" Does that mean Linkara is a ripoff of The Nostalgia Critic?

On-topic, I hated the video. Not because it insulted me, but it was not funny, not accurate, and the guy was way too pretentious.

Interesting. well, I've always said he never copied him, I've liked AVGN for some time.

And yes, people have drawn up comparisons between AVGN and The Nostalgia Critic, and cried plagarism on AVGN as a result. Ridiculous if you asked me.

But it happens, remember when the first GameOverthinker (if you ever watched that in the past) came out and everyone said "stop copying Yahtzee!" (I guess...because he had an starkly contrasting opinion to many other gamers?) and the first couple MovieBob reviews showed up on The Escapist and everyone said "arrg, the swearing! What are you, trying to be Yahtzee?"

It's just... bizarre.

Actually, if you did your research you would know we were ACTUALLY paying homage to the old Dennis Leary ads from MTV in the early '90s. Which in actuality were an homage to Lenny Bruce bits from the '60s.

Just because someone is doing a foul mouthed editorial doesn't mean they're ripping anyone off.

There's a reason there is an award named after Edward R. Murrow. He started the editorial. We ALL, Yahtzee included, just continue to do it.

As already noted, he has a point that Yahtzee wasn't the first, and I accept that. However, as I argue, whilst they all continue to copy someone else, at least everyone else does it well.

Kudos to him for reply though.
